The wife and I are foodies. We don’t mind the price if it is worth the value. So let’s start from the beginning. The review that brought us in Youtube Tom’s Steak House. We book a reservation a week in advance. And we make our 45 minute drive in excitement. The parking lot is packed but small. I would guess 1/3 the size of the amount of tables. But we get lucky and get front row parking.(thought we were off to a great start)
We enter and check in and over to the table we never get to walk through the restaurant. Just to the right of the front door is a room with 5 rows of tables of about 20 tables total. It looks like it is meant for a private party due to the accordion style partition wall. Right next to the kitchen. The coat check closet the rest rooms and the check in counter are further in the restaurant then this room. (Lets you feel welcome) As we look around the room and make comments to each other about the out dated atmosphere and hope the food is amazing.
As we read over the menu and decide and dinner. Our fake crystal water glasses get filled and a wire basket with a few rolls and crackers and pretzel sticks get put on the table. (We think we haven’t seen one of those since we were kids in the 90’s) The waitress is nice but is not knowledgeable of the beer and wine menu.
The wife orders the Queen Prime Rib and a salad. I get the T Bone and salad. The salad of lettuce and homemade dressing. Nothing else no tomato no croutons no onion nothing just chopped lettuce. Her dressing is extremely vinegary and she can’t finish it. I got the dressing carousel the dressings are good but I’m certain that the carousel get pasted table to table. (not impressed)
The Meat: Ladies first the Queen Prime Rib. Medium Rare it is a large cut ( Toms cut is twice the size for $3 more) it is delicious it is not overly fatty it is perfectly pink and it tastes amazing and melts in your mouth. She says it is the best prime rib she has ever had the chance to eat.
The T bone it is a large cut also. It is charred perfectly it is juicy. As in cutting in to this steak with a dull knife from a 90’s soup kitchen i’m thinking it taste pretty good but for the price it’s just a steak. It didn’t stand out. The bake potato is just that a baked potato. I will say the homemade sour cream was pretty good and different but how do you screw up a baked potato.
The conclusion: I was not overly impressed and for the price point they need to make a lot of updates. And you usually have the manager come by to see how your visit was in a place like this but not tonight. My vote is that we will NOT be returning. (we all know who’s vote is the one that matters)
She was not happy with a lot of things about the visit but she made it very clear that she was the winner of tonight’s dinner choice and the PRIME RIB was so good that she could look past everything else and give it a 2nd chance.
I hope this helped everyone. Try Tom’s Steakhouse for your own opinion just know what your walking into and know it’s the Prime Rib/Steak that your there for and everything else is just fillers. I would have given more stars for the Prime Rib but there was just to many other issues that...
Read moreThe short of it: not only is management condescending and defensive, but this steak house failed three time to achieve the correct term of meat. Nothing we had was good or great I will not be returning I went here for my birthday with family and friend. My family member had chicken which was tender but had no seasoning. After trying in array of dishes it seems like this restaurant doesn't add salt to anything. They did have an older clientele. The other two guests had an elevated meatloaf that was fine. I was the only one who ordered Steak, given that it was my birthday and it was a steakhouse. At first attempt he served me a medium bone-in steak, that was dry and tough. I alerted management who acted as if he could not believe that I was returning this steak. He later came out and told me that it was "a bit tough" for that type of cut. I had ordered in place a filet mignon medium well, hoping that making it a bit more rare and ordering a tender cut will get me something that was juicy and soft like a steak should be. The second attempt came out and it had a nice crust as soon as I opened my steak except for a quater inch around it was blood red, more than rare. The steak was barely cooked. Someone at my table took a piece and try to eat it it was far too rare for us. I looked at the manager who agreed that it was not the correct term and took it back into the grill. When they bought out the third attempt to cook a steak here, they bought out the same cut the chunks we had put in our mouths at all re- cooked on the grill. Let me stop here and explain that no restaurant worth their salt should be putting anything that clients have already bitten into or cut into on the grill. I understand that steak is expensive but to put pieces that we had bitten into back on the grill is more than disgusting it's a health hazard. The steak was dark brown on the outside, with a Kraus that was almost burnt. I open this piece of steak up and it was still rare. The manager didn't know what to do. I eventually decided not to order anything else here. Of course they took it off my bill and gave us desserts. All in all I've had better experiences at Longhorn and Outback and will not be returning to this establishment. Not only are they unable to cook a steak correctly the way a client orders it but their practice of putting things that have been on someone's plate back on the grill is unsanitary and more than concerning. That's not even to add that the steaks have a lot less flavor because they aren't cooked with salt or finished with salt. If this restaurant is concerned about people's blood pressure about serving of clientele they can always ask if someone wants salt or not. I think seasoning extremely important to flavor and developing flavors on a grill and to see a steakhouse not regard seasoning as an important factor in their service tells a lot about their ability to produce a...
Read moreI’ve been driving past this place for years waiting for the day to dine in because I’ve always heard good things about this place . For starters I want to say our waiter was a sweet older lady who I can tell has a great heart but my experience was just not great at all unfortunately. No recommendations on anything for one is big no no especially when asked about certain entree’s given that the main meats were “OUT”. My fish was brought out and my server took out the bones and sliced my fish all while in front of me which I thought was sweet but unnecessary..... My wife had the lobster and steak and as always she fed me some and to be quite frank it was the most blandest steak I’ve ever eaten and I’ve had just bout every cut!!! Our potatoes were burned on the bottom , we asked about our sides so we could start the meal and unfortunately the cook never made them and left apparently for night some time ago. Who made our sides??? It’s all made sense as to why the food just had no flavor at all. I can tell the chef just quickly made our main dishes and left without letting staff know because they apologized about it at the end of the night.... I was under the impression that this was a great steakhouse , rather just a great restaurant in general but this was just a highly disappointing Friday night dinner. I wasn’t even asked if I wanted wine to pair with my meal or just drinks in general. The only thing I can say that was absolutely amazing was my clam chowder soup. It was extremely great tasting and tbh my waiter tried her best to clean up the disappointment about the food , the delay on our sides and just the overall dinner but I blame the kitchen staff.. seemed like nobody cared enough about us because their were only 3 tables occupied and I witnessed the other two tables having trouble with food and drinks .... I usually keep my reviews short but I was just flat out robbed of a good meal and a good night at a highly regarded establishment..... my food wasn’t even hot to top it all off... I’m sorry TOM but it may have been an off night or wte excuse but I’m sorry I won’t step foot in there again... I think the worse part about it was paying $150 something for bland warm food and to think my wife was so excited about finally eating there... also the garbage bin in the bathroom should never reach the top like that if your running a clean business... we’ve eaten at plenty of steak houses and not once have I experienced what I did tonight... also , I’ve never not been asked if we wanted...
