I'm still trying to figure what's going on with this place. When they first opened they didn't have a phone and online ordering was offline. So I had to go in, order a pizza then sit at the bar and wait like it was the 1800s. At the time I thought, 'well they just opened so...' Good news, they broke down and got a phone and they got the online ordering online. Except they didn't really. It happened to be turned off for some reason this last time and they refused to take my order over their brand new phone. So, once again I went to this empty restaurant, placed an order and waited like I was in a medieval tavern. I really hope they get their take out process squared away.
But on to the important stuff: the food. The last owners of this location had really good pizza. It was well known. While it's not fair to compare them to the previous tenants, people will have higher expectations because they didn't significantly change anything. Including the menu. I will say that one time we got a truly excellent pizza from 1801, but twice we got pizzas that were worrisome. They tasted as if something sweet got on the crust, but I didn't order the honey pizza. We were left with an upset stomach though not entirely sickened. Sadly, I think we're going to have to move on and leave 1801...
Read moreLast night my boyfriend and I tried a new spot to watch the buckeyes take on the longhorns not only did we get a win , but we had an amazing experience at 1801 Tavern ! Made some great friends who also turned out to be exceptional staff of 1801 ! The owner Matt was so kind and such a hands on manager I loved to see when his restaurant got busy he was all hands on deck everywhere that was needed or necessary! The bartenders were making delicious and beautiful cocktails , while giving us different taste testers as we were indecisive of what we wanted ! The Alfredo chips were a scrumptious starter , I’m not a blue cheese fan but the crumbles on the chips with the rich Alfredo sauce paired perfect and gave the right balance ! We also tried the wings and a spicy pizza ! The wings were prepared just right with the best crunch and abundant amount of meat , and the sauces offered were different than any I’d seen elsewhere . Calabrian chili sauce was phenomenal , I could use that sauce on ANY and EVERYTHING it was so good. The spicy pepperoni pizza had the perfect blend of sweet and spicy the melted cheese with the ezzo pepperonis and hot honey was amazing ! I highly recommend 1801 tavern to anyone looking for an outstanding dinner , and ambiance with...
Read moreWell, that was disappointing. Thought we'd try this place tonight for dinner after a busy day. Walking in, the glass doors appeared as tho' they hadn't been cleaned for weeks. Not a great first impression. We were shown to the table where the bench had not been cleaned. I wiped off the crumbs with my hand, noticing that no one had cleaned it for a while--lots of crumbs in the crack between the seat and the wall. I thought about saying we should leave but we wanted to give them a chance since they are kind of new. My salad was tasty but then when the sun hit it, I noticed that the plate had not been properly cleaned--crusty leftovers from the prior diner. Then, as luck would have it, a hair in my salad. I was done. The reaction from the server, Morgan, was nonchalant. Guess she's seen that before and it didn't phase her. We will not return. The place was pretty gross. One more thing..apparently they haven't paid their sports subscriptions as most of the tv's had nothing playing and were asking for payment for the channel. Turning them off might've left a...
