I entered Happy Buffet at 7:15pm on a Wednesday evening. I was surprised to find it nearly deserted. I went and had a look at the buffet to decide whether or not to stay. Things looked pretty good, and there was a pretty good variety of dishes in spite of what I had read in other reviews, so I decided to stay.
The first bowl I picked up for soup was dirty. Not off to a good start. I later discovered the pepper shaker was quite sticky. I was not impressed with the level of cleanliness.
I was looking forward to trying the peanut butter chicken as I had read positive comments about it. I was informed that it is a lunch only item. I ordered ice water for my drink, then was surprised to find they had no lemons. 🙄 I was also disappointed to find they had no spring rolls. They did have egg rolls, but the wrappers had an odd texture-chewy, not crispy.
On the positive side, they did have more beef than I usually see on a Chinese buffet. The price was fair for the food, and the quality was mostly decent.
I probably won't visit again, but it certainly wasn't the worst...
Read moreThere is nothing happy about this place. The food was dried out and cold on the lunch buffet. We happened to be dining when the time switched over to the dinner buffet time (we were assured that we would be charged the lunch price upon arrival). Now that it was the start of the dinner buffet, there was finally some fresh food being put out. Awesome, right? Nope! Apparently if you imbibe in the warm fresh food, you are automatically charged the dinner price. When we asked what was going on, we were told that we took ONE scoop of a dinner item. How were we supposed to know??? Never been here before. She drags us back and shows us a tiny piece of cardboard with "dinner item only" scrawled on it and masking taped to the glass where no one would be able to see it unless they were over 6 feet tall. There was also a long piece of hair lying across the cake, so dessert was also not an option. You could not pay us to return....and I strongly advise caution when considering dining in this sorry excuse for a...
Read moreThe Unhappy Buffet. Upon entering the establishment your eyes are immediately attacked by the drab atmosphere and you notice that all of the patrons look miserable. I grabbed a plate to gather my Lunch and half of the hot trays are either empty or the food had very obviously been on for several hours without being refreshed. There were only 2 workers seen throughout the entire visit. One who refused to look in your direction and would not speak and only stared at the floor, the other who also refused to speak even when met with a "Thank you" while clearing the table. I paid for my meal and went on about my day. I would absolutely not recommend this restaurant, it was a terrible experience. The next complaint is more for the area than the restaurant itself, when walking in there was a man laying up against the door, clearly high. Upon exiting the facility the man was still there, and there were 2 more people laying on the sidewalk within 100 yards. Not an area to visit, if you have any...
