El Tapatio Mexican Restaurant & Cantina — Restaurant in Liberty Township

My daughter and I were guests at a birthday dinner for my twin cousins, who were turning 13. There were approximately 25 people at the party, and we arrived after everyone had already taken their seats. The waiter promptly came to our table to take our order, and knowing I had to leave shortly to pick someone up, I only ordered a Mango Margarita for myself. For my daughter, I ordered a Sprite and a Burrito Amigo. After sitting down, I left for about 25-35 minutes.

Upon my return, I was surprised to find that neither my daughter nor another child at our table had received their food. We summoned our server, who initially seemed confused but then told us the order hadn't been placed. Even though both children's orders were the same item and were ordered separately, neither had been made. The waiter promised to expedite the orders and adjust our bill accordingly.

We waited another 10-12 minutes before the plates finally arrived, even after the birthday cupcakes had been served. By then, everyone else had finished eating and was waiting for us, ready to leave. When the check took an inordinate amount of time to arrive, I was further frustrated to see that no adjustment had been made. I bypassed the server and spoke directly to the manager, explaining the situation. He promised to handle both bills but only provided a 5% adjustment, a mere $1.35 on a $36.00 bill. The minimal effort was so negligible, it was almost laughable; he might as well have not bothered to adjust it at all. The food was not a problem, but service was dismal. Absolutely a fantastic place to eat, I came in today with a longtime friend I haven’t seen in a while and we placed our orders. When my order came out, the nachos I was not expecting just sort of plain nachos and she explained to me I ordered the wrong version,that I needed to order the other version and I said oh that’s fine. Can we just upgrade this one and I’ll just get one of them and she said “no no no what would you like added to this one, we can just add it for you!!” I was like wow that’s great and I told her,, at that time my friend noticed she had onions on her taco, and she thought maybe she told her no onions, but again she was like “no problem at all will bring them right over for you” and within a few minutes, the orders were fixed. The food was fantastic … My friend even felt a little bad that she might have upset the server because she didn’t see her any more, and she asked one of the other servers if that was the case and she said no, she was just on break, when she came back from break, she stopped by to say hi making my friend happy. The food was fantastic. It was so good my friend ordered the same exact order minus the onions to take home and definitely is looking forward to the next visit. That is how much she enjoyed this restaurant as that I the atmosphere is fantastic. The food is wonderful and I have to admit I was eyeballing those adult beverages a lot and I think the next time I may have to try one of them because they look really great. I've been here quite a few times.. the food is usually pretty good and the service is usually alright, but tonight was absolutely horrible. Myself, my husband and my son were sat down pretty quickly, and chips and salsa were offered instantly, but after that the service was absolutely horrible. Took 5 minutes for someone to get our drink order, we got our drink order and he just walked away. He didn't ask if we were ready to order or anything. Another 20 minutes go by and we see nobody. I saw what looked like a manager pass by handing out checks and I stopped him and just told him I would like to pay our bill for our drinks and chips and salsa if need be. He walked away and then our server came and by this time my husband and son were waiting outside. He asked if he could take our order and I just told him we couldn't wait any longer and just need the bill for the drinks. He was very polite when I spoke with him but before hand there was no communication. Had they said, "hey guys, please be patient with us since we are busy." Or taken our order after getting our drinks then I would have understood, but the customer service tonight was horrible, and I'm not sure that...
