Driving up the hill of LIberty Center Way off Cincinnati Dayton road, ascending a miniature Chilwali Ghar brings you to this treasure of a restaurant in West Chester Township. Not being visible from any artery, it’s not a place people would stop on impulse, so patrons here are making the trek specifically for this food. And judging from the amount of cars usually in the parking lot, many diners do just that. The owner is Manbir (MIke) Dhillon, a third generation Indian Army veteran who, if he has time, will show and explain to you the magnificent water colors in the bar area of the various military uniform’s from India’s past. But to get to the food, i never experienced what Tandoori chicken was supposed to be like until having it here. What I’ve gotten at other restaurants was served in one piece and was excruciatinly dry, forcing me to take gulps of water to force it down. But Indian Spice Train’s is cut into mouth watering,, tender, juicy and perfectly seasoned pieces, with pungent lightly grilled onions complementing the delicate flavor. Also cooked in the clay oven is the magnificent Tandoori Ribeye, melt in your mouth marinated rib eye that cuts like butter, one order is usually sufficient for two diners. There are also the usual favorites like Tikki Masala, Saag Paneer, Aloo Gobhi, and a generous selection of Naans. There’s a full bar and Rosie, Manbir’s wife is an expert mixologist. The staff couldn’t be nicer, international in flavor like the wonderful servers Uma from Nepal and Elizabeth from Peru. Do yourself a favor and make the short trek up this micro Himalaya off LIberty Way. But please save a stool at...
Read moreI have dined in and catered food multiple times at Indian spice train and I can confidently say it's one of the best Indian restaurants in Cincinnati at this time!!
The menu is a delightful mix of traditional favorites and innovative dishes. Chef Manbir comes up with delicious options for large catering events and give personal details to each and every event no matter the size of the party or order.
What impressed me even more was the attention to detail in each dish. The chef's use of authentic spices made every bite a celebration of Indian cuisine. The most recent creation of Lamb Shank- made to order is at a level of FIVE STAR RESTAURANT IN NEWYORK. The juicy tender meat melts in your mouth like butter. Make sure you order this dish two days in advance for it to be slow cooked to perfection. The service was exceptional as well; staff is knowledgeable, friendly, and attentive, ensuring we had everything we needed. I also appreciated the diverse vegetarian and vegan options available, making it a great choice.
Whether you're a long-time lover of Indian food or trying it for the first time, Indian Spice Train is a must- visit… Highly recommend!

Read moreI have never been to an Indian restaurant before, this place is amazing! I ordered Shorba (I'd highly recommend) it is in the soup section, so much flavor... so delicious, I also ordered Tikka Masala which is basically the same thing as the Shorba but the rice is not mixed into it, it comes separate, this meal is seriously the best I've had in a very long time, I regret not taking pictures to show how amazing it looked, they were both bursting with flavor, I did a heat level of 4 which was pretty mild and my husband heat level 7, he said you don't taste the heat right away, it builds up as you are eating it, we were both very pleased on how delicious they both were, the restaurant is quite elegant inside, and the staff was beyond excellent, never had to ask for refills, very friendly, made us feel like VIP's, at the end of our meal a very nice man I believe it was the manager came around and made sure everything was to our liking, if I could give this restaurant 10 stars I would, we were beyond impressed, I will recommend this to anyone and I most definitely will be returning, thank you so much for the best first...
