Mickey Finn's Brewery — Restaurant in Libertyville

STAY AWAY, ESPECIALLY WOMEN!!!! My friend and I came in here one Saturday night because we saw the band playing from outside and the place seemed overall cheerful and alive. As soon as we paid for a our drinks, an African American male in a black hoodie and a baseball cap started harassing us about needing to leave as they were supposedly closing soon. When we explained that we had JUST been served our drinks, he demanded that we chug them down and leave. We said that we did not feel comfortable chugging down strong alcoholic drinks like that and said that if they needed us to leave so badly, to please refund our new drinks and we'd be on our way. They refused the refund and the hoodie guy kept up with his harassment, at one point actually getting physical with my friend! He finished off by calling her fat (and this is a girl who has been insecure about her weight and has been working VERY hard to improve her figure). I can't even begin to describe how much of a mess she was that night, and all when we were just trying to enjoy ourselves and have a good night. The staff of this place are beyond rude and had absolutely no reason to let us into the venue, stamp our hands, charge us for drinks and then throw us out without even allowing us to drink them just because they suddenly decided they wanted to close (and it wasn't even midnight on a Saturday!). I'm giving one star but it should be zero. I've been to Mickey Finn's a number of times. This evening was like something out of a sitcom but it left me dazed and confused. I'm Afican American, my female companion is Filipina. We arrived around 4:30 and we're seated near the front window away from the other customers. Something was wrong with our server. I don't think he was drunk or on drugs but we could see something wasn't right. He was nice but...hmmm. We placed our order and everything we received was different from what we ordered. Too top it off my food never came out. I waited 45 minutes. Our server said he forgot to put in my order. He said he didn't know I wanted what I ordered. He walked away and didn't come back. I asked the young ladies who were seating customers for a manager after 10 minutes had elapsed. A few minutes later I saw the manager talking to my server. The manager never came to the table. He didn't care about me as a customer. Our server stopped by and said he talked to the manager who comped all the food. I used to do consulting for Fortune 500 company's that wanted to improve their customer service. A manager always visits a customer in a restaurant when requested. I was calm and cordial but ignored. One would think this was all done on purpose. I did not get to eat but Mickey Finn's didn't think I was worthy of a manager's concern or apology. To top it off...I didn't get anything to eat. I can not say enough good stuff about this place! We visit here frequently, and have had most of the items on the menu, down to the shepherds pie. One of their bus fares is the delicious pizza and smoked wings. If you want some thing to really look at the pretzel, it’s absolutely gigantic and tastes delicious. Their service here is wonderful and they are very attentive. The bartenders are incredibly fast and very skilled at what they do on a busy night during a live band he will get a drink faster than any other place in town. The beer is delicious. Lots to choose. They often have a great draft options and a good selection of flavors and textures for all beer enthusiasts.
