Really wanted this to be better. To me the benchmark for a good cheesesteak will always be Dalessandro's followed by Jim's on South Street. The cheesesteaks here unfortunately are not close to either. Stopped in on a Friday night at 7:30 and ordered a cheesesteak with sauce and American cheese and an order of fries. Total was just north of $20 with the 50 cent upcharge for "pizza sauce" and a 3% service fee for using a credit card. The service was good, the order was out in about 10 mins and I had it home and opened up within 10. My initial impression was that there was not enough meat filling the roll. I saw Liscio's Bakery boxes at the shop, so I knew what to expect. The roll was definitely fresh and from that day. The "pizza sauce" was poured over top at the end, so half of it was stuck to the paper wrapping. Upon tasting it, it was clearly a premade pizza sauce and nothing that any thought went into (the elderly grandmother of the Dalessandro's family made their sauce from scracth for years). The meat to cheese ratio was on point but the cheese was clearly a cheap American. Sadly the meat lacked flavor and as noted previously, was not substantial enough to justify the $15 price. I immediately reached for the salt and pepper while wishing they had seasoned the meat prior to cooking. In the whole steak I only found two pieces of gristle. The fries were basic cheap, frozen premises that tasted like they came from aging fry oil. They are thay semi battered kind that are a far cry from fresh sliced or even real potatoes. The serving size was fine for the price. Overall, this was an average cheesesteak experience from a steak shop in the suburbs. More effort needs to go into seasoning the meat and sauce and a little more meat would go a long way. The upcharge for sauce needs to stop as well. While I didn't dine in, the shop looked neglected and haphazardly organized. Very uninviting. Probably will not return while I continue the search for a better cheesesteak this far away from the city.

OMG 😲 OMG ABSOLUTELY PHENOMENAL 💯 😍. 1st, let me start by saying I work in South Philly daily. With that said, I know the spots that make some fantastic sandwiches. I live in Montgomery County, and not a single restaurant comes close to the sandwiches I get in Philly. Typically, I have to bring sandwiches home if we want something good. We'll things have now changed in Montgomery County with this restaurant. You legitimately have a place that ranks with the very best of Philly. This was my 1st time ordering from Jay's. If the quality remains true to what I received today, I guarantee I will be returning for many years to come. No one in Montgomery County comes close to Jay's. Fyi, I ordered there new 3 meat " Jay's Special Sandwich " on a seeded roll, with fried onions, mushrooms, broccoli rabe, and Cooper sharp cheese. It is a gigantic monster of a sandwich that will blow your mind......Highly Highly recommend ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ UPDATE 08/24/2024 My 1st half of this review was when they 1st opened. This is a disappointing update. For a long time, this place has been phenomenal. However, recently, and to be more specific when I don't see the owners themselves working. The quality and quantity of food is dramatically different for the worst. We order 2 jabeitos, a chicken cheesesteak hoagie, and a cheesesteak empanada. A BODEGA'S chicken cheesesteak in the ghetto of Philly or Allentown are way better than what I received today. Also, the cheesesteak empanada was literally half the size of when we last ordered it. For $5 it's as small if not smaller than a Chinese cheesesteak egg roll (which would have cost less). Extremely disappointed 😑 😕 😒 If you can't trust your management or crew to keep the high quality when the owners aren't there you may want to make it so that every single item is measured and weighed to try and guarantee some type of better consistency.

My kids were doing swim school next door so I gave Jays a try. Ordered a regular cheesesteak (picture is only half of it) when they started class to be ready to go when the kids were done splashing around. Little did I know this would be possibly the best decision of my life. Steak was done on time and I brought it home anticipating another mediocre “cheesesteak” which I’ve experienced far too often. To my surprise it was the complete opposite. This steak was banging. Perfectly seasoned with the right amount of cheese and they didn’t skimp on the meat by any means. Add a dang near perfectly baked seeded role and I found my soulmate. By far the best cheesesteak I’ve had outside of the city and would even compete with most of the good ones there. I also want to mention that the price was relatively below what I’ve seen from competitors. Thank you to Jay (if that’s your real name), the friendly woman who handed me my cheesesteak, and the cooks in the back. You’ve made my night. God bless you all and thank you for bringing this beautiful establishment to my area. I will be back soon (tomorrow in all likelihood). Mike D

I really enjoy this place. We been multiple times now. I come from either birdsboro or pottstown to come to place so going out our way some and plenty choices in between but this place really cares about what they do. There best menu item is there chicken cheese steak get some cooper on it. Trust me it brings out the flavor. You got chunks of chicken nice amount of cooper cheese and roll that is just right not too hard not too soft just right. Goldilock would be happy lol. And if you want some taste sides the cheese fries with house cheese sauce is great. You get some nice fluffy flies with just that amazing cheese sauce drenching it. There cold cut sandwiches are really good they pack in the meat and cheese and the toppings. They don't skimp you for sure. The empanadas are freaking yummy. The presentation of them are amazing. Has nice crust and good amount filling inside with each bite. We have been here at least ten times now and out of that we may only had one semi bad experience but nothing too horrible that we didn't want come back. The atmosphere isn't super crazy basic with family photos on the wall. Two TVs and plenty of sitting room. Always clean and service is always great. And if there any issues it is handled quickly. There is usually not a long wait at all. If your looking to scratch that cheesy it or need good empanadas this place can help scratch it. I will be definitely back. Especially the prices and food ratio and also the artisan of the food. It's done by people that care and wants make sure you get a good meal. Check them out and see for yourself. Might be your...
