After Luciano's replied to my 1-star review I felt it was necessary to point out for the benefit of other customers that your menu prices for pizza toppings are 50% higher than several other nearby shops. (See the photo and check for yourself.) All I expect as a customer is a quality product with fair and transparent pricing up front, and not "special pricing," or an "adjustment" or excuses after the fact. Thanks for your explanation, about the glitches, which I can understand. But that does not make up for how I felt like I was being taken advantage that day when I left your shop. I might be back someday, but for now I am trying other places.
Dear Lucianos: Time for a reality check!
We've been to your restaurant twice, and have ordered pizzas twice since the owners of Francesca's retired. Our most recent purchase on 5/15/21 was nothing short of sticker shock. Wow!
Your pizza is good, but your prices are not.
Today I was charged $30.74 for a large pizza with vegetable toppings. My big mistake was not asking the price when we ordered it, and your employee's huge mistake was not telling us the price when we placed the order.
I am not one to complain when it's an honest mistake, but $3.75 per topping is a little over the top when it comes to vegetables.
I did a little research before writing this . . .
At the local Giant supermarket fresh broccoli crowns are 78 cents each. We figure you used one. Green peppers are $1.00 each. We figure you used a half a pepper, so add 50 cents. Yellow onions are 61 cents each and you used a half an onion @ 31 cents. Fresh mushrooms are $1.66 for 8 ounces, we figure you used half that amount at 88 cents, and presliced black olives are $1.66 and you used half a can at 88 cents.
All of the toppings add up to a total of $3.35 in your cost. To be reasonable, let's add a 25% markup on ingredients, which brings the toppings up to $4.75 and let's also include another $5.00 for wages and overhead.
The basic pizza is $14.00. Add to that figure $4.75 for ingredients and $5.00 for labor and overhead, and we come to a total of $23.75 net.
Do I feel like I was overcharged? Absoutely yes to that.
I'll end where I started: Your pizza was good. Your prices were not. We hope you care enough about repeat business to respond to this review and make some changes to your...
Read moreThe folks and I stopped in for an early dinner and I am so glad we did. I'd never been before but they had and said the pizza was really good. When they suggested it, I knew where they were talking about and I thought it was your average pizza place. I couldn't have been more mistaken. This place is more ristorante than pizzeria. Well I should say it has all the perks of fine dining with the casual convenience and comfort of a pizzeria. The food is fantastic, the service top-notch and the atmosphere delightful. Muraled walls, welcoming decor and seating, comprehensive menu without being overwhelming, and several tempting specials.
We started with two appetizer specials, zucchini flowers and onion rings tower, think breaded fried zucchini stuffed with fresh melty mozzarella covered in creamy hot pepper cheese sauce and real bacon pieces. Yum! Then a tower of onion rings layered with fresh mozzarella, tomatoes, Basil, balsamic drizzle. The basket of garlic bread was even notable; warm, toasty, garlicky goodness. The wings were the best I've had in years. Perfectly crispy outside and tender juicy inside. We had the hot-sweet sauce which is mild with just enough kick. A fresh crisp Cesar salad side salad with freshly grated Parmesan and perfectly seasoned toasted croutons came with my entree too. For entrees we had the godfather Pizza (broccoli range, garlic, olive oil) and the seafood risotto, salmon option (pictured). Absolutely delicious.
Of course we needed to-go boxes but I'm really looking forward to my salmon risotto for lunch, maybe even breakfast, honestly. We wished we would've had dessert because the dark side of the moon, whatever that is, sounded like something we'd have tried. Next time for sure. I'll definitely be returning to try more of their menu. We really enjoyed this meal together....
Read moreAfter relocating to the Royersford/Limerick area, I started looking for a really good Italian restaurant. I’m happy to say that I found just that at Luciano’s! Staff were welcoming and friendly and my server Chloe was personable and knowledgeable. I had been craving a seafood based linguini dish and I found the perfect dish with crab, shrimp, muscles, sea scallops and clams. The seafood was cooked perfectly and was sitting on a bed of nicely cooked, not overdone, linguini. The dish was served in a light red sauce and was so well seasoned I almost didn’t use grated cheese. I will definitely return to this restaurant and will happily bring other family members with me.
Update: I’ve decided to revise this review after several additional visits to this restaurant. The food is hit or miss but hit for the most part. I dined in with my grandson and ordered a dish where I requested a certain item be omitted but, sure enough, it came with the item and had to be sent back. The waitress got it wrong. I came in on a Wednesday craving lasagna and it was on the board as the lunch special. It was quite good. I don’t care for a mountain of garlic bread and requested plain bread which was served warm. Same waitress. Today, another Wednesday, I came in for the lasagna lunch special. The same waitress said we don’t offer lunch specials. I ordered the lasagna anyway but specifically asked for plain bread instead of garlic bread. Sure enough, a different waitress brought me the garlic bread which I sent back explaining I had asked the first waitress for plain bread. These concerns may sound picky but I’m dismayed with the lack of consistency when it comes to “specials” for lunch and a waitress that can’t seem to get anything I...
