This place is promoted as a “pub”. I think of pubs as being small, dimly lit, lots of wood worn from time, and cozy. MaGerks is anything but that.
It’s huge having both main floor and loft seating. It’s brightly lit partly due to the fact that one entire wall is retractable glass garage doors that open onto a dining patio. It’s not worn or made to look worn from time. And, it’s hard to feel cozy in an auditorium-like structure with concrete floors and open ceilings. All that withstanding, if you're not expecting something like Cheers then you’ll probably enjoy your visit, particularly if you like having a lot of people around.
The center of the main room is devoted to a large bar completely surrounded with stools. No matter where you sit in the place you can easily see multiple TVs showing different sporting events. Well, that may not be true if you’re on the patio.
I had lunch here with a friend. I ordered the 9th Street Chicken: Chicken Cutlet, Prosciutto, Sharp Provolone, Arugula, Balsamic Reduction, Pesto Aioli, Seeded Long Roll. $14. Included was a dill pickle spear and a small bag of kettle cooked potato chips.
My sandwich was tepid. The menu did not say it would be hot but since a chicken cutlet was the primary ingredient I thought it would be. The remaining ingredients promised a lot of flavor, but little was forthcoming. I took half the sandwich home and heated it for lunch the following day. Still, no distinctive flavors appeared. It’s my feeling the flavor profile needs amping up.
My friend ordered Chicken Cheesesteak Bacon Ranch Style: sliced chicken with Cooper American Cheese. $14. Also inclued pickle and chips. He commented that his sandwich was good.

Read moreI was there the first time about a month ago and it was beyond phenomenal. Went tonight and it wasn't even beyond bleh. First, the server was phenomenal. I will give her that. I think her name was Jess and she was very attentive, polite, just good all around. But. And here's the but. But....the food stank. Quesadilla was mushy, burger was ordered medium but came out basically well. The baby back ribs were ok, basically Applebee's Riblets in a different basket. Credit - the fries are amazing and they're not cheap on the serving. The big thing was the dessert. I specifically went for the Churro Cake. I'm trying to be careful with my diet and this was my "once every other Monday" treat. It was amazing last time. Tonight it was very obviously microwaved, had been sitting because the ice cream was almost fully melted, and they left off the strawberries and whipped cream. Yes I know...not a big deal, but I am fat, on a diet, and love cake, and it's been 2 weeks. Shoot me. Finally, they advertise $6 house crush drinks at happy hour. Ordered one and they charged me 12 bucks. Apparently there is a difference between the "crushes" on the menu that start with "Magerk's" and the ones that don't. But they're all called crushes. Yes, it's obvious now that I know and I didn't figure it out, so that's on me. But I would've liked a little clarity. At this point, it will be a while, if I go back at all. Sorry MaGerks, you messed up MaDinner so you no longer...
Read moreI finally was able to get a seat at the new restaurant in town. We had a wonderful time. We got the edamame to start. It was so juicy and tasty with the sprinkle of sea salt. It came with a side of Wasabi sauce. We thought the sauce would have a punch, but it was mild. For dinner, I had the hot roast pork sandwich. It was delicious with provolone cheese and spinach. I had them hold the long hots. It comes with a bag of chips. My husband got the hot roast beef, and he loved it. My daughter got the southwest nachos with no chicken. It was delicious. The chips were crispy, and the flavor was wonderful. I want to go back and get the nachos myself. We ended the meal by sharing the caramel cookie skillet that didn't come in a skillet, but it was very good. Our server was Kaela W. She was very good. She had several tables but was able to handle it. It looks like they have the capability of seating upstairs once they get...
