Before you read my review please know we could have just had a bad experience. Many of my friends recommended this place and said how much they loved it. The place was really packed too so I would really recommend trying it out and judging for yourself. The cashier who took our order was nice and very friendly. The burgers seemed a little on the pricy side. My friend got a single patty burger with Parmesan fries and a soda and it ended up costing him $12.00. I just got a double patty burger by itself so it cost me $9.00 and it didn't really fill me up that much. I got the Hotel California burger and it was okay. I just kind of tasted grease meat and guacamole on chips. My friend ordered the Aphrodite and he couldn't even finish his, it took him a while and eventually he just took out the meat patty and ate that. The Parmesan Truffle Fries he ordered were really greasy too and the Parmesan didn't do much to help the flavor. I think we were expecting delicious large Parmesan fries like you have at Red Robin (which I love) but these were really thin and curly only a couple millimeters in diameter, sightly thicker than hash browns. If you want unique options for burgers check out lead bellies and if you don't mind being limited to Wednesdays Misty's has specialty burgers (similar to these) for $6. If you are looking to fill up Red Robin was always a good match with delicious all-you-can-eat fries and a fun environment. My friend said on Tuesdays the HyVee on Leighton has an amazing hamburger and fries combo for $5... he was really pushing for that but I wanted to try this place and I think we both...
Read moreMe and some friends drove down from Omaha to Lincoln JUST for some Honest Abe's, and I'll tell you what, it was well worth the drive. The interior design of the building is fun and inviting and the food is awesome.
My friends and I basically all ordered the "Hair of the Dog" burger, which was fantastic. The bourbon bacon apple jam paired with the peanut butter is an amazing combo. I also ordered the normal fries (there were a few selections to choose from), which were good, but nothing to go crazy for. I also ordered the chocolate malt, which was very good. Can't go wrong there.
The bill came to about $16 before the tip, but it was worth it in my opinion (specialty burger, fries, and a shake). The customer service is good too. Since I ordered a shake, I was going to ask for a water cup, but before I even had a chance to ask they handed one to me (I'm guessing it happens often enough that they assume you'll ask for one).
Also, my fries hadn't finished cooking, so they sent me my burger beforehand and let me know that they were on their way out in a kindly fashion.
I don't give it 5 stars only because I wasn't 100% sure how the meat patty stacked up against other burgers I've had. There were a lot of toppings on the burger I ordered, so it was difficult to tell if the burger was seasoned well. It didn't seem as juicy as other burgers I've had, but it was still an enjoyable eating experience.
8/10 danks. Pls go...
Read moreI don't remember when I first went to this Honest Abe's location. This is the first Honest Abe's I visited years ago. It used to be in a smaller section before it moved into its current slot in the Meadowlane shopping center, and there used to be a store called Pengiun Pitstop where it is now.
I have always been impressed with the burgers here. Honest Abe's is where you go to get gourmet quality burgers. I visited tonight for dinner, and I enjoyed the burger called Hair of the Dog with 2 patties. I am glad they added tater tots as an option. The fries were ok, but the tater tots are amazing. Personal preference maybe. I also tried a Double Dutch chocolate shake. Wow, that was rich. It will be tough to find another burger joint with the wild variety that Honest Abe's has.
Honest Abe's is still making amazing burgers. I came here for a late lunch. I ordered the The Gladiator with double the meat. I also tried the chicken nuggets. I didn't expect the nuggets to be that good. They are so much better than chicken nuggets from McDonald's, Burger King, or Wendy's.One thing about Honest Abe's is that it won't be cheap, but these burgers are worth the price. If you want to know what a next level burger is like, check out...
