The only reason I didn't give it 1 star is because they had a phone that nobody else carries... Im pretty pissed about the whole process ...I went in to purchase a OnePlus cell phone and the employees were not trained at all in the product. An employee said he had no clue about them .. he's been there 2 years and never was aware of a single sale... I was asking about network compatibility and he started to explain to me that he mainly knows Verizon and "it should work". I asked what comes in the box... And I got an "I don't know"... Well.. can you find out? Does it come with a charger? Does it come with a case? ... Online it showed the phone comes with a charger and case... "I don't know".. well.. can we find out? After going back and forth without a single clear answer to any questions I had, even with their own service package, I went ahead and asked for the phone I was going to purchase.. the employee was looking for my phone under the counter and another customer came up and was telling the employee that he was there to sign up for 4 new lines on Verizon... The employee.. wearing a Best Buy shirt... Said he had a Verizon emergency... Stopped looking for the phone I wanted, and said another employee would help me out... Or he would get back with me when he was finished.. I'm not embellishing this at all... Straight up told me he had a Verizon emergency... I sat there for over a half hr listening to him sell 4 new lines under Verizon.. another employee sat down beside me as I waited and asked the Verizon emergency what I needed... He told her the phone I wanted and she said someone would be with me shortly... Then she sat down and for 10 min I watched her go through the process of putting a screen protector on a customers phone. Then She asked what help I needed and I told her what phone I wanted ...she went looking for it and couldn't find it.. another employee came over and started helping her look.. and by some miracle... They found it where the 1st employee was looking... He said he knew it was there because he saw it when his Verizon emergency walked up... So... It's now been an hour since I told them what product I wanted and the box appeared. I asked her about the extended coverage and cost...she said they didn't do theft or lost phone on the device I wanted... After the device rang up, the screen asked if I wanted the extra coverage... I asked if she could tell me what it all entails... And she said "I don't know"... I decided to just bite the bullet and get the extra coverage... I wanted to purchase head phones as well... And she seemed disgusted that I would bring us up after the whole cell phone debacle... Well we never got to my second item because they spent all this time on just one... I dropped a lot of money on hopefully a good phone, and hopefully good extra coverage.. once again.. they are the only retailer in town that carries the specific device, otherwise I would have burned off .. they also don't sell cases or any other product for this device.. so I ordered them on Amazon. Horrible,...
Read moreThis site forced me to leave one star. They don't deserve even 1/2 a star. My husband went to Best Buy to locate a powerful gaming PC for me as a surprise birthday gift. He was very specific with the salesperson about the requirements necessary for me to use the PC as intended. My husband is a brilliant man in his field but his field is not electronics and computers. He relied on the Best Buy sales associate to recommend a PC that would function seamlessly so that I could continue to run virtual world dance concerts as a dance educator and choreographer, a life long profession. Not only did the salesperson act in a demeaning fashion towards my husband by making snarky comments such as "oh, that is an old game, anything will run that" by the way that was a totally inaccurate assumption by the salesperson considering the PBR graphics now part of "that game". He sold my husband a CyberPower PC that holds only a 4GB graphics card. Seriously? He assured my husband that this was exactly the correct PC for my purposes. My husband relying on the sale associates expertise went with that suggestion thinking it would be a perfect PC for my needs. WRONG! After finally setting up this monster of a device the FPS on this new gaming machine teetered at 6 FPS. Unacceptable and the system crashes consistently. After lowering all the graphics to the lowest settings I manage to keep the FPS at possibly 20, still too low for decent visuals and a stable performance. I spent all day today NOT receiving customer service from Best Buy and their automated, completely useless live chat, phone and website. I believe Best Buy is responsible for representing equipment that is outdated, and absolutely useless to me as merchandise that would fit the ticket. This cost $1800,00 and my laptops run the graphics better with a consistent FPS. I consider Best Buy to be fraudulent in their sales and incompetent in understanding the true requirements necessary to run graphics on certain programs. Again, this was a birthday gift and my husband feels terrible that we were scammed by Best Buy. A very expensive scam not only financially but an expensive waste of my time and an insult to my profession. I am furious! My next step will be to contact the BBB and file a report. I will not be stuck with an expensive and useless product, be completely blown off by Best Buy's customer service responses, or lack thereof and let them get away with it. After BBB, I may contact my lawyer so he can bill Best Buy for wasting my valuable time and selling unacceptable products that have negatively impacted my work. The computer is under a one year warranty and I will also contact the manufacturer and alert them to the fact Best Buy is misrepresenting their products which reflects poorly on The manufacturer. I will never purchase anything from this company again or refer them to any student, friend, neighbor, or family member and that is a shame. At one point it was a company to be trusted. Those...
Read moreWe love going to the "O Street" Best Buy in Lincoln. We have bought a large number of electronics and kitchen appliances from this location over the past 10 years that we have lived in Lincoln, including multiple laptops, printers, Nintendo switches, 3DS, 2DS, Nintendo games, DVDs, iPads, mice, keyboards, a dishwasher etc.
The staff are very friendly and knowledgeable and there is always enough staff around for me to grab someone if I need help with something in the store. I never have to walk around the store looking for someone to help me.
Having the Best Buy Citi Credit Card to go along with the purchases is a big bonus for coupons and savings, and I recommend getting it.
Returning items or swapping them for another item after I made a purchase has never been a hassle at this store. No one has ever held me hostage for a receipt or original packaging etc. Although, every purchase I make results in an automatic email receipt in my inbox.
I have also signed up for the 'Total Tech' package which costs $199 per year. I bought it at Christmas time 2021 because I bought a bunch of gifts for my family at that time and wanted to 'insure' them adequately. With this package, pretty much all services in Best Buy are free of charge, especially the geek squad.
Whenever I take my 11 year old son, I invariably end up buying him a Nintendo game or some electronic trinket...
Not long ago, they changed their closing times from 8:00 pm to 7:00 pm due to lower traffic in COVID times. But I think they have just gone back to the original closing time of 8:00 pm on all days of the week except Sunday which has a 7:00 pm closing time...
One thing that's slightly frustrating is that their phone number is a jumble of automated menus and it's a pain to get to a live person at the store.
The other day I called in to ask about a 256Gig Sandisk drive for my son's Switch. Somehow I got routed to their purchase department in India. This was a surprise for me, however the purchase experience was smooth and the guys on the phone was polite and helpful. He checked the stock at the store, helped me purchase the hard drive and arranged in-store pickup.
When I picked up the hard drive at the store, the customer service rep, offered to install it in the Switch right there, instead of me having to go to the geek squad. I agreed however, we needed WiFi access to download the latest updates on to the switch before it would let us install the hard drive. And since the software update would take a while, I decide to simply get it...
