As I travel, I never pictured Lincoln Nebraska would be a place that I would say; “I had the best barbecue I’ve ever tasted in my life” but i was wrong! Once I came Mulberry bbq that changed! This barbecue belongs on the national stage. I swear it does. Before I touch on the barbecue, I wanna touch on the staff. I’ve been here twice during this visit. The first day I had a nice lady help me out. She made me feel like I was at home. She was so welcoming, polite, and nice. Everything you look for when you patronize a place, just made me feel relax, like I didn’t have a care in the world. I forgot what was going on outside and I was more focused on tve environment and atmosphere. Best feeling to have. I’ve been in many places across the country and this is in my top 10. The second time I came I had a different staff and they were just as lively, upbeat, and welcoming that’s a good experience to have because customer service the lost art but not here apparently. Now on to the most important part of the review: The BBQ!!!!! The barbecue a leave you speechless. It has to be the best barbecue in Nebraska. I will put it up against anyone, anywhere! Out of the places I’ve ate bbq I’d believe Mulberry will give them a run for their money! I’ve traveled the world multiple times, and one of things I try is barbecue, the other is donuts! Being from New Orleans andouille sausage is pretty much a vegetable. Outside of New Orleans, I have yet to taste and andouille sausage worth having. That has changed once I came here. The brisket was cooked perfectly. I enjoyed every bit of it. Lastly, I wanna touch on his macaroni and cheese. I don’t know who made it but it was amazing. I got double mac both times and the only problem I have is that I could do stuff any of my suitcase to take home with me! Overall, if you’re looking for a place to enjoy some barbecue and good vibes, I highly recommend you come to mulberry barbecue! It’s amazing and make sure you buy the bbq sauce to take home! Make sure you check them out if you’re in Lincoln Nebraska.

My father and I have been touring Lincoln trying nachos everywhere we go. Mulberry BBQ ranked well in our list despite the BBQ nachos being something new for my dad. Value was excellent, $10 nachos would easily feed 2 average people who weren't starving to death. Keep in mind the context of the review is comparing it to some non-existent personal ideal. Any feedback that sounds negative is more in the way of "how it could be even better." I'm a picky BBQ fanatic as well, and found their BBQ also worth the trip, and will be back for more. Really tasty BBQ nachos, good meat (we chose pulled pork) and sauce. Cheese sauce was good, but could have been even better with some melted cheese on top. Jalapeños were yummy, generous amounts of sour cream, chips were standard fare, but didn't detract from the experience. Pickled onions would have elevated the nachos a step or two above. Also ordered spicy andoullie sausage that was great, and burnt ends which were above average, but not world class. Not too fatty which was awesome, great bark, but pretty mild smoke flavor. Didn't have a pot roast consistency which some places get from steaming/cooking in the oven too long. Very happy with the quality. My son had brisket burrito which he said he'd definitely get again. Raved about it again later to my wife. BBQ sauces were thin in consistency, but good tasting. A great BBQ restaurant, with a good selection of (from what we tried) very good food.

“Other” = Lunch and Dinner, and my &20 to $30 total was for two meals. The Mulberry has modest prices and decor for excellent food! After enjoying a “Double Barrel” lunch special for under $10, following up based on ordering Burnt Ends “to go” for later this evening. End result: YES! (On both meals) The “Ends” remained moist and tender even after microwave re-warming. It’s interesting to read the few negative reviews. What were they expecting, after all? The Mulberry serves very good (and in some cases, excellent) food at very reasonable prices. But we weren’t done yet! We returned the following evening for an in-shop dinner of Burnt Ends, Mac & Cheese, and Potato Salad (photo included). During this second visit, the crew informed me that they smoke their meats on-site, with Mulberry wood (hence, the name for their business). The Burnt Ends were delicious both times!

Decided to try it due to the reviews and we've been dying for some good BBQ since moving up to Nebraska. Unfortunately they were out of brisket, which we'd wanted to try, so we opted for the kids BBQ sandwich plate and 2 of the Saturday rib specials for $15.

MEATS: Both meats were very tender! The pulled pork was very good. I didn't mind my son requesting help finishing off his sandwich that'd been divided into four mini triangles. The ribs were also very tender. The only complaint I had was I kept finding shards of either cartilage or bone in my rib pieces which has never happened before. My spouse had absolutely none. So not sure what that was all about, but it did kill the enjoyment a bit. Both the pulled pork and the ribs tasted wonderful in their natural state. We actually found the sauces to be rather disgusting when we tried them. It was a water like consistency and way too much vinegar for anyone's liking. .

SIDES: Honestly, most of these really didn't have much flavor too them at all. They weren't bad, they just weren't remarkable. BAKED POTATO - Was good, just comes with butter, sour cream and chives, although I only had 3 chives on it. Be prepared for the butter to run all over anything on your plate though as you eat off a flat tray. BAKED BEANS - Had a real kick to them. They were good and more of the flavor style I've been seeking, but the beans didn't seem cooked quite enough and the kick was slightly more than I personally care for. MAC N' CHEESE - Got this for our 2 year old w/ his meal. He enjoyed it. Slight bit of kick to it, but not enough to turn him off of it. POTATO SALAD - Hubs said his potato salad was ok. Was spicy which he wasn't expecting, about a 6/10 on his scale. He said he'd get it again though. CORNBREAD STUFFING - This was one that all 3 of us enjoyed. I normally can't stand yellow cornbread, I grew up on much sweeter and less course white cornmeal, but this was actually really pretty good. A slight sweet hint to it with actual corn kernels blended in. We recommend this one and would definitely get it again. CHEESY POTATOES - We got a large side of this because one reviewer said they were to die for and it was something we would all normally eat. Sadly, there wasn't much flavor to them at all. Again, not bad, just not remarkable.

OVERALL OPINIONS: Staff - Friendly enough. But not sure you feel like they really want you to be there. Price - Feels a bit high for the quality and portion sizes. Cleanliness - We had to clean off our own table. All of them were dirty. Otherwise seemed ok. Food - It's an OK BBQ place, but being from down south it's just not that extraordinary that we'd crave eating there all the time. Especially for the price and portion size of everything. So we give it a 3/5. Would eat there again probably, but it's not going to be a hot...
