We’ve driven by this place every day since it opened and finally decided to give it a try. Now we understand why it’s always empty.
I ordered the 8oz New York strip. It was thin, chewy, and a good bit of tough gristle—clearly a 5-6oz cut for a steak sandwich, not a proper dinner entrée. It looked unappetizing and tasted overwhelmingly like salty butter substitute (WHIRL, maybe?). Thin, tough, and flavorless. The vegetables were a frozen California mix, drowned in the same fake butter, and equally unappealing. I only ate it because I was hungry.
My wife ordered the chicken wrap, which was just as disappointing—small, bland, and honestly you could get a better (and bigger) chicken wrap across the street at McDonald’s.
The waitress never asked how our food was, but she didn’t need to—it felt like she already knew. The table next to us wasn’t thrilled either; we overheard them commenting about how small and overcooked their burgers were.
As we left, we noticed every car in the parking lot had out-of-state plates—except one from Seward. That told us everything: we were probably the only locals. This place clearly survives on one-time visits from travelers staying nearby or just passing through because if it’s proximity to the airport, interstate and about 12 hotels/motels and there isn’t much else around except McDonalds. .
Honestly, we should’ve just paid for our drinks and walked out when the food arrived—but we were tired and needed something in our stomachs.
The only redeeming factors? Our waitress was amazing despite everything, the fries and onion chips were decent (hard to mess those up), the UFC pay-per-view was on, and the location is convenient for out-of-towners since it’s right by the airport and surrounded by hotels. We definitely...
Read moreWe came in on a Husker game day and were part of a group of 16. The staff did pretty good making sure we had what we needed. The only complaint I really heard was that a few people wished the waitress would come around more often for drink replacements. Again, big group, game day, it's not going to be perfect.
There were plenty of TVs for watching all the different sporting events. The restaurant was clean and well kept, same with the restrooms.
The food was really good. Well, almost all of it was really good. I had the Herbie sandwich and upgraded my side to fried pickles. The sandwich was really good, if I had to critique it at all, I would say it could use a little more BBQ sauce, even with the mac and cheese it was a little dry. The amount of fried pickles was slightly disappointing when you are paying a $3.50 upcharge for them. They were very very tasty though. Nice light flakey breading, definitely recommend. The onion chips were good, not spectacular, but good. The cheese curds were excellent as well, same kind of breading as the pickles. Get these as well. The chicken basket was less than spectacular. Pretty average at best if we are being honest. My wife didn't finish them nor did she take them with us when we left. As she put it, they had a weird texture that was not appetizing. All the other food items we ordered I definitely recommend.
This was a nice place to eat with mostly very delicious food. I'm sure we'll come back to try some other menu items. Be sure to give this...
Read moreVery nice place to watch a game. We were there with a group of 7 of us to watch Monday Night Football so we were there for 3+ hours, including them allowing us to stay late after closing in order to finish watching the game.
Staff was very friendly and took care of us till the end. We all had appetizers of the Onion Petals, Dipping Fries, and Fried Zucchini. The Onion Petals were very good, and the Dipping Fries came with 3 sauces to let you try several of their homemade choices.
Entrees consisted of burgers, chicken strips, a medium pizza, and the hot dog. Everyone enjoyed the burgers and two had good things to say about the mac n cheese side they got with theirs. The chicken strips were good, just normal 'bar food' chicken strips. I had the Red Zone Pizza which was good but not what I was expecting. I thought it would be like a buffalo chicken pizza since 'red zone sauce' is an option on their wings, but it was more of a vinegar based sauce that while tasty, just was not what I was expecting. The pizza is on very thin cracker type crust and next time I'll try a different version of it.
Overall, a great place for a small to medium sized gathering, plenty of TVs if it were a Saturday or Sunday when there were maybe multiple football games on to watch. Game area with darts, games of skill, etc... had people playing in it most of the night while we were there. We will be back again for another MNF...
