What can I say that hasn't already been said about this incredible business. I have only been in GA for a little over a month and this was one of the first places I decided to check out. Best decision ever!
I love how super unapologetically black this business is. Where I'm from there are NO businesses like this in my immediate area. My first time coming here was incredibly welcoming and warm. They treat you like a long lost brother, sister, cousin, etc. The energy & vibes are unmatched. Whilst inside, I feel so empowered and safe as a black woman. You can tell they take pride in their craft and our community.
You see strangers interact with each other like family, engaging in robust conversation that's filled with love and intellect. They provide a wide range of purposeful books, and other black owned/ produced products from clothing, lotions, incense, jewelry, and more.
The owner Kazemda Ajamu has an awesome and incredibly educational podcast called The Urban Politician (please check it out). He's such a gentleman and sets a great example of why dialogue with our elders is so important. He is more than willing to spit some wisdom and engage with us millennials. They also host some really cool events pretty frequently which can be found on their website.
Lastly, I have gotta give my girl Alex a shoutout, she makes the BEST chia lattes ya'll and will educate you on meditation, self love/ self worth, her business, and more. Although, I haven't branched out and tried the other drinks just yet (because I'm addicted to her chia latte creations lol) I have know doubt that they are just as amazing. Ms. Kim is also fantastic, and makes everyone who comes through feel like family. She exudes regality, and it is always a pleasure to come in and see her behind the counter.
All in all, I am so so happy and enthused to have found this place. Thank you Black Dot for creating this space, you have a forever...
Read moreSome of my Sisters and I were looking for a nice coffee house for a business/ Sister-girl meeting. As I walked in the door, I was immediately greeted by the owners/employees with the words of "Peace", and the delightful, soft smell of incense and the sound of old school RnB. The atmosphere was calm and laid back; the room was very open & spacious, yet still quaint. As others came in, they too were met with the same greeting, and they shared that same Peace as our eyes met.
We had delicious coffee that hit the spot, and as another patron whose order was being filled awaited it's completion, we became enticed by the aroma of some heavenly creation. We ordered the Smoked Salmon on the Croissant with pesto on the side....OMG, it was delicious! The sandwich was well seasoned (and I don't eat out). The owner and employees were very attentive and checked on us multiple times.
The business had items on display for sale (a great selection of items), including body oils, incense, books & other trinkets. They had a wonderful selection of teas and coffees, as well as menu items to choose from to enjoy.
The bathroom was spacious and clean, with all of the necessities to properly relieve yourself.
They have Saturday evening activities advertised for our Social enjoyment.
I will definitely go back and advise others to do so, especially if you desire to support a Black owned/operated business.
Thank you to the Black Dot Cultural Center family for your great service and...
Read moreBlack Dot Cultural Center is a full experience. For me, I come for the coffee and stay for the enrichment.
Sitting in the âBlack Wallstreetâ of Lithonia, Black Dot Cultural Center is an establishment that offers History, Culture, Coffee, and Comfort. Upon walking in you are transcended into a world of black past and present. From the books on the left, the coffee to the right, the wall of heritage in the back, and the space for community in the middle. Embarking on this experience, I am always pleasantly surprised by how much fun I have. The coffee is amazingggggg and the level of coffee education is unmatched.
Taking the time to appreciate the coffee bean, Black Dot Cultural Center provided the opportunity for you to play with flavors and delight your palate. Before you order, I suggest you explore the entire menu, there is no shortage of options as well as the daily specials have a tendency to bring you out of your comfort zone and take a riskâŠ
