Decided to try out this spot. Itās more like 2 1/2 stars but that was not an option. The food was okay. We tried the ropa vieja and the churrasco. We found it to be just okay; something was missing from the seasoning. The mojo for the yuca needed a lot more garlic. The maduros were good and so were the rice and beans. The food does not have authentic Cuban flavor.
It was a hot day and although the waitress said the air conditioning was working, they had the door open so I asked if they could close it so that the flies did not continue to come in (flies are a huge no-no when there is food around so why not take measures to avoid letting them in) and so the āair conditioningā could stay contained in the restaurant; however, the waitress said she would have to ask and then never closed the door or circled back to tell me that it could not be done.
Also, major piece of advice to the owner of this restaurant, invest in real plates, cups and utensils for customers who are dining in. We were provided with plastic disposal plates, cheap plastic utensils and a solo cup for my seltzer water. The maduros and beans were in a carry-out container. As I mentioned, I had the churrasco and I had A LOT of trouble cutting my steak which made the experience of eating it not enjoyable. I asked if they had a steak knife and was told they did not. If you are going to serve steak in a restaurant, you should have steak knives available for your guests. I donāt mind casual dining but for dining in, they can invest a little and have some actual plates and utensils available.
Overall, the spot has some potential but still needs quite a bit of improvement. I was excited when I came across this restaurant because there are not many Cuban places in the area but left...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreFood is very good, simple clean restaurant, but beware, there are a couple of servers who are overcharging for the food. They will ask cash or credit, if you say cash, they will not give you a receipt up front, they make you go up to the counter and ring you up take your money, then ask if you want a paid receipt, but with out the details of the order, so ask. Always get the one with your order details on it, because they ring you up hoping you decline to see the detailed receipt because they charged you without you knowing. Itās happened twice to meā¦by 2 different women working there. They fooled me once, but the second time I asked for the detailed receipt and after I was given the receipt, the price went down by almost 30% from the original price I received when I went to pay. Good help is hard to find, especially when they are thieves. They are sneaky with a smileā¦always get your detailed receipt regardless of cash or credit. To ownershipā¦It sucks because youāre hurting your own customers, who will undoubtedly eventually just go somewhere else; i checked and there are a lot of Latin restaurants that moved into the area and Iāve looked up 3 cuban restaurant within 10 mins from this location and tried one already and the food is just as good, so you might lose business, and itās...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreWell neighbors in the area couldn't wait for the restaurant to open. Of course, we all wanted to try the first "spanish" food in this area. Here's my opinion: PRICES: Are OUTRAGEOUS! But I mean, outrageous! For instance an order of ripe plantains is $6.00 !!! Wow! Finally and without checking prices (my mistake), I purchased my first and only order at Cuban Breeze; once at home I realized I'd paid almost $10 more for the same order I regularly buy at another Spanish restaurant in Paterson-OUCH!!! I think I will keep buying my Spanish food at the same old place I always did. FOOD: ROPA VIEJA:Did not taste as such BLACK BEANS: Need more "Cuban sabor". AMBIANCE: No Cuban Music in the background. ETHNIC LOOK: No ethnic decoration. To me it looks more like a fast food restaurant style.
FRIENDS OPINIONS: "UNCOOKED" Chicharrones de Puerco. PRICES are on the high side". Food lacks the famous Cuban cuisine taste (this coming from a person who knows and love that food/taste/sazon.
CUBAN BREEZE's Administrators should have into consideration that they just joined about 10-16 restaurants in this neighborhood competing amongst themselves with DELICIOUS FOOD and COMPETITIVE PRICES. I personally wish them good luck and success. Forgot to mention that the staff...
