I love the vibe at Guillermo's, and I really wanted to love the rest of it because supporting local businesses is important to me. But I just haven't had a good experience there. My husband and I have been to Guillermo's 3 or 4 times between July and September 2024. The first time, I got a seasonal tea drink, and it was awful. To their credit, the owner came out, apologized, said their new matcha wasn't good and that it shouldn't be on the menu (which begs the question of why it was still there... but I digress) and replaced my drink with a much better one. During the other visits, the food and drinks were fine. The pastries are great, but they often sell out, and they aren't labeled, so it's hard to tell what's still available. Sometimes the baristas don't even know what they have ("I think this one is a French toast muffin?"). The other food items, like sandwiches, are overpriced for what they are. Today my drink was made incorrectly, but it tasted good anyway, so I guess that's fine.
The real issue is that the service is terrible. The baristas look miserable, and it takes forever to receive your order. Today our food was heated up right away, but we waited at least 20 minutes for our drinks. And that was with hardly any line. One of the times we were there, we overheard a guy tell the barista he had been waiting for his drink for 45 minutes.
To summarize, I wish I could recommend Guillermo's, but I can't. The food and drinks can be good, if you get the right thing and if they give you the right thing, but the service just can't keep up.
Edit: Went back 3 weeks later just to give it another shot. I timed how long it took us to get our drinks. It took 30 minutes. That's just ridiculous. We're done with this place until something changes the...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI had two meetings in Guillermoās this morning and was surprised by the relaxed yet professional feel of the place. The baristas are very kind and knowledgeable. There are plenty of seating options, great art and an overall pleasing aesthetic. Guillermoās Gourmet Coffee is also a big supporter of local businesses there is a table stylishly set up with an old typewriter that is covered with stacks of business cards from a wide variety of industries. The coffee is decently priced and the coffee of the day comes with a refill, which is great for a long stay or several meetings. There is a conference room that can be rented for $10 for 2 hours, which is the best pricing I have seen yet. The decor is a mix of rustic, mid century and modern. Guillermoās has free WiFi and the password is posted in several places on the walls and screens. If you are looking for a coffee shop with universal appeal and a place to quietly work while sipping a great cup of coffee, Guillermoās is the place to be. Business or pleasure, there is a place for everyone. I do not recommend bringing young children as there is not much to keep them entertained. Guillermoās does support City Year in the belief that education has the power to help every child reach their potential. Come in and bring your business cards to drop off at the networking table and one to drop in the drawing for a City Year giveaway. I will return to Guillermoās for future meetings and maybe to just get a great cup of...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI have to say, the first time I went here I was not happy. For some reason, I held off on reviewing it, and when I had company arrive from out of town, I went in for the second time. I specifically noted to my company that I had yet to review it and wanted to give it a second try. I'm glad I did. The two male baristas working were friendly, engaging, and informed! Quite the contrary from my previous experience where I felt like an uneducated burden. Ok, I was optimistic. We each ordered our coffees, one peppermint mocha and one seasonal gingerbread apple latte. Next, we each ordered a make your own breakfast sandwich. I got an everything bagel with turkey, gruyere, tomato, cucumber, and avocado with the Basil pesto sauce. My friend had nearly an identitical sandwich with hers being everything bagel, turkey, gruyere, tomato, and the sweet onion sauce. She devoured hers, perhaps with haste because I had not yet received mine. Well that changed very quickly and I could understand my friends zeal for her meal. It was delicious!!!! Now our coffees were absolutely delightful. I drove over to my husbands job to share my excitement, and he promptly spilled my delicious coffee š I got one picture because it was...
