We really enjoyed our visit to Maddie's Place. From the waitress to the food we couldn't have asked for more. Our waitress was so funny and helpful we just had a great time with her. She was patient with all the questions and really on point with her suggestions. We were there on a Saturday night on a double date with my wife's sister and her husband. The restaurant was crowded but not too loud and the food was served quickly. The beer was cold and good. They have an Angry Orchard style cider that is really good.
Each couple got the Truffle Parmesan Fries for an appetizer. I wished we had tried the fried alligator bites in retrospect, but the fries were good. Nothing spectacular, but worth it.
By far the best entree ordered was the redfish. It was really good. I had the fried chicken which was also very good but I missed out not ordering the redfish. They suggest sides but allow substitutions. Everything was really good.
One interesting note was the Andouille Sausage Jambalaya sauce. I had ordered it and the waitress assured me it was good but had a sweeter sauce than normally understood for cajun food. I opted to forgo the jambalaya as I'm a fan of spicy Cajun food. However, I asked if I could try some of the sauce just because I was curious. She brought some out and it was good. It was an interesting flavor and I thought it could work on some Jambalaya. Next time we go to Maddie's Place I will give it a shot.
The ladies at the table ordered the bread pudding for dessert and we ordered the peanut butter pie. Both were delicious.
Overall, we had a fantastic time at Maddie's Place. The service was really above what we expected and the food was very good. Excellent date night...
Read moreThis was my first time in Little Rock and stopped in for apps and dessert based on high recommendations.
The eats:
The Mac and cheese 😍 - Very rich and decadent - smooth texture and extremely cheesy. Just enough flavor. Very filling/satisfying. Would absolutely order this again!!
The bread pudding - very highly recommended by locals and others eating at the restaurant. It was absolutely worth the splurge. You can get icecream to go with it, but it didn't need anything added. It was sweet, decadent and moist enough without any additional side or toppings (besides the rum sauce it comes with).
Brussels Sprouts - I absolutely love sprouts and these were good, but nothing overly special. They also were not the crispy type and had a bit of sweetness, which is not my most favorite style (i like them crispy, grilled or oven roasted best), but if that is your style of sprout, these were half decent.
Peanut butter pie - paired with the lackadaisical service, this slice cost the restaurant a star - I ordered my slice to go, and felt the slice served was a bit skimpy for the price and was sloppily placed in the container. I actually fixed it up quite a bit to take the picture. The pie slice itself was very tasty and refreshing though - i really enjoyed it. A bit thicker than a mousse and a nice authentic tasting peanut butter flavor.
Service:
Our waitress must have forgotten about us multiple times or just didn't feel like being at work that day. We sat outside and had to come into the bar area to ask for dessert and for water refills, again to ask for our check, and again to ask for boxes. The restaurant was not very busy and there were other people seated...
Read moreThe night before my sister’s birthday I went to Google maps to find a restaurant we’ve never had before. After reading the reviews about Maddie’s Place and looking at the posted pictures I knew this is where we needed to go.
I wanted to try a variety of apps so we ordered 3 and we both got the lunch special.
Appetizers:
Alligator Bites- were fried and seasoned perfectly and paired great with the dipping sauce it came with. The sauce reminded me of a sweet/sour combination.
Fried Green Tomatoes topped with lump crab meat- crispy and delicious. I’ve had fried green tomatoes before and at some places the batter doesn’t stick or falls off. Not these. They were fried very well with a good amount of crab meat on top.
Ribeye & Blue cheese meat pies- these were my least favorite. The blue cheese was strong and over powered the meat. I also feel like the pastry dough should’ve been cooked longer ours was a little soft. Not horrible but I wouldn’t order again.
Lunch specials: Red beans and rice, fried catfish, and fried shrimp- the red beans and rice were very flavorful. You receive quite a bit with your order. The catfish and shrimp were good but needed more seasoning. Using the hot sauce helped.
Cheese grits, catfish, and fried oysters- my sister loved the cheese grits paired with the catfish. She felt the same about them needing more seasoning.
The cooks did a great job with preparing the food. Most importantly it came out fast and fresh.
The atmosphere was laid back and inside was clean. Even the restroom.
Our server Morgan was great. He was attentive and helped us with suggestions about which appetizers to choose from.
All in all, I highly recommend and...
