My husband and I visited this location last night, and there was a guy standing in the middle of the "kitchen", visible through both drive through windows, vaping. When I asked the person taking our order if I saw what I thought I did, he said "yes" as if it were a perfectly normal thing.
If they're willing to vape/smoke in the food production area inside, especially where people can see them, and then have no compunction about it when called out, I shudder to think of what other nasty things they might be doing. Do they wash their hands after going to the bathroom? Do they taste customers' orders before handing them their food? Are there roaches, mice, maggots and other unsanitary creatures getting into everything?
These kinds of things tend to happen due to management and overall culture from ownership. We won't be back, and if you care about your safety and/or that of your family, I encourage you not to visit this...
Read moreI wish I had started going here sooner. I'm all about an old school chocolate malt and Shake's has become my go to place for getting my fix when I'm craving one.
I go out of my way these days to do my shopping at the Bowman Walmart (I live in the Mabelvale area) and having an excuse to hit Shake's is a huge part of why I do so.
My only complaint is that on more than a few occasions I have decided not to stop for my malt due to them being too damn busy and having a line backed WAY up to the entrance. I know the crew there tries to keep it moving but the little shop can only handle so much at once.
I almost always make sure to have an extra dollar or two ready to throw my server as I have worked my fair share of service industry jobs and know how thankless it can feel when you're that busy.
I highly recommend checking them out. It's very rare for me to give 5 stars but I'll make an...

The line always moves slow, and I’m okay with that. Just roll the windows down, open the sunroof, and chill. I’ve worked a drive thru job and it is just like that sometimes if you want fresh food.
What wasn’t cool was the way the employees handled the long line. I pull up next to the door on the side, right before the menu, and an employee opened the door and stared at me with absolutely no expression. Didn’t say a word to me either. They’re just staring. So, I assume I’m supposed to order. I said my order, and they didn’t repeat it back, or say anything. Just shut the door. Utter silence from this employee. Still thinking to myself, “wtf”. I understand having a bad night… but the way you treat people has more of an impact than you think.
I was shocked because the employees there usually okay. Some are...
