One star only for the dine in experience Five stars for the pizza as always because this pizza is fantastic. This is a word of warning for those dining in. I noticed no one was dining in and I realize why. So I have learned TWICE that when dining in, which will never happen again because eating in the parking lot is more efficient. My two dining experiences were the exact same. They open at 4 on Sunday and both times we were the first to walk in and be seated. Orders were placed immediately so you would think we would have a pizza within the 35 minute time frame. NOPE! 1 hour minimum AFTER my complaints. First visit my pizza was allegedly dropped on the floor and they had to remake it but they magically did it in 10 mins. My question to them was “ just exactly how many Big Dan pizzas have been handed out of the drive thru window since i have been sitting here? Somehow the drive thru customers were getting theirs with no hesitation. They don’t take orders until they open I thought. Second visit exact same scenario! Waited and no pizza for an hour, I complained and they said we are on a 45 minute wait time. Well I placed an order within 5 minutes after walking in and yet the drive thru was handing them out like halloween candy. Big Dan Pizza is a popular pizza and I asked again “How many have been sent out the window since i have been here?” Pizza was quickly brought to the table. Don’t eat in. Order drive thru and eat in the parking lot if you have a long drive home and want to enjoy it while it...
Read moreI decided to have dinner here recently and the pizza has potential but was just ok. I had the Loaded Barrel which is like a basic combo pie. The crust is quite good actually, being crispy but also robust enough to not collapse when picking up a slice. And it holds up throughout the meal as well. My problem is with the toppings. The sauce, as per usual with quite a few pizza joints in LR, is bland. I wish these places would realize the importance of a hearty flavorful sauce, perhaps tomato paste-based. The veggie toppings, like onion and green pepper, are diced too small to even taste them. The better pizzas I've had usually have large slices of veggies that you can see AND taste. I've never been a fan of beef on a pizza cuz unless it's seasoned you won't really taste it much. I left it on the pie just to see if they do it differently but alas they don't. I'm also not a fan of sausage. I love Italian sausage, which they have as an available topping, but this pie came with those tiny little "sausage" nuggets and their flavor kind of takes over the whole pizza. They should just ditch the nuggets all together and stick with real Italian sausage. I'll say one thing, they are not cheap with the toppings (well, maybe the veggies). I just wish they were of higher quality. Overall it's a decent product but if I try them again I'll probably go with a pepperoni and Italian sausage pizza to keep it simple so I can taste each topping. Oh, and their service is quite good so no...
Read moreStarting off with the positives: the food was fast and hot and our waitress was pleasant and attentive. BUT this was probably the worst pizza I've ever had and I eat a lot of pizza.... Imagine if you will, a restaurant plucked out of the early 80s serving what they think pizza is after reading about it in a magazine... the homemade pizza crust was the consistency and flavor of a saltine cracker, like for real... the sauce had no flavor at all, it was like watered down ragu or something. Pizza and cheese sticks had a lot of cheese, but that was the only positive attribute it possessed outside of the timeliness and temperature. The atmosphere of wood paneling, an old claw machine, a broken down arcade game, and a "salad bar" made me nostalgic of my childhood but in a bad way... only lacked a cloud of cigarette smoke to fully capture the experience of my youth... Even after all that I still wanted a souvenir plastic cup to take home because of the fun name and logo, but they only had non-takeout and Styrofoam cups. The worst part is I left with half a pizza and I threw it away at the hotel, something I have never in my life done... even a $5 Little Caesars was better... Sorry for the negative review and for whatever reason there were a bunch of people there eating it up and liking it ... my only explanation is that they have never had Papa John's or...
