Máximo Cocina Mexicana — Restaurant in Little Rock

This is my second time coming to this place within about a month. The first time I came to the restaurant it was fairly empty and the service was impeccable and the food was great! The atmosphere there is very nice as well and the drinks are superb.

However, the second time I came with a friend and it was well… different. The service this time around wasn’t as fast, but I attribute that to the fact that there were a lot more people there and don’t have much complaints on that. The food still came out in a timely manner.

The issue arises when my friend finds a tiny spider crawling all over her plate. I asked the guy at the bar for a manager and told him the issue and he immediately told us the meal would be comped. Our server then came to our table shortly (unsure if either of them was the manager or not), and I told her about the situation as well. She implied that this is Arkansas and gestures towards the ceiling as though the spider may have came from there. I don’t know about you but I don’t want to eat at an establishment where it’s cobwebs on the ceiling above me, even if that was the case.

Regardless I told her that my friend has a video of it and when shown the video she wanted to argue with my friend stating that it couldn’t have come out of her food. How that mattered I don’t know, because it was still a spider crawling all over her plate. It seemed to me that she just wanted to write it off as no big deal and her demeanor seemed to change as well afterwards like she had an attitude of some sort. We paid and left shortly after because I didn’t like the vibes I was getting from her just for having to comp a $16 meal.

My friend and I decided to try this new restaurant as we love supporting small businesses. Walk in, 10 mins wait time. Not bad until we were forgotten about for 25mins. We went to the bar and the bartender had a pretty nasty attitude. Though she seems pretty friendly to everyone else... I opted for a small “crystal breeze” cocktail and my friend wanted to get a mojito flight, which was located on the menu. Margarita or Mojito. The bartender said they don’t serve mojitos only margaritas. Ok- gaslit. Eventually we get a table and they cash me out at the bar. $30- for ONE 6 oz (which the glass was 50% ice so more like 4oz) drink. I couldn’t believe it. After getting to our table we asked our lovely waitress if the price was really $30 and after double checking she confirmed it was. The food was not great, and my friend and I got an array of choices. Overall, it was kinda a waste of my time. After I left I called a family member who recently went there and said they had a great experience and their drinks weren’t nearly that expensive. Maybe they just upcharge the people they don’t like? Either way, will not be returning, overall experience was 2/10 and one point was for our waitress and the other was simply for the Dr. pepper I was given….the bar is low here. Came in with my bestfriend after a long day was rudely greeted by Denise. We tried to brush it off because it appeared that she was the hostess , I tried to give the experince the benefit of the doubt due to the day being a crazy day for everyone just in general. We requested to sit at the bar where we waited a short while to be serviced.
