A typical Vietnamese pho joint with lackluster interior design. However, the place was busy and got busier when we went in with 22 people. We were promptly greeted and the servers and owner pulled a few tables together for our large group. They were busy when we went in on a Saturday afternoon shortly after 2PM. Although they were busy, the server tried her best to not rush taking our orders. The food couldn't come out soon enough, however, the drinks came out pretty quickly. Most of the party ordered pho and commended the pho. I ordered the Mi Xao Don (crispy noodles) dish, the garlic chicken wing dish, and the shrimp and pork fresh spring rolls. The dishes didn't disappoint and the drinks were on point (Thai iced tea and Vietnamese iced coffee). As expected in a big group with "1" bill, our bill came and was over $400. We were able to collect some money from the group and I split the rest with another companion. The owner saw us go through the checks a few times and was nice enough to make copies of the checks for me. We had already left the premises and after going through the checks, we were charged for a few extra dishes that we never got. We were no where near the restaurant any longer so I just wrote it off. If I'm going anywhere with a large group again, I'm going dutch. Lesson learned! However, I highly recommend this place for your pho or...
Read moreEDITED 6-8-21: On my most recent visit I decided to try the thai tea with boba, and it was amazingly better.
I decided to get lunch here because they advertise having bubble tea, one of my favorite desserts. I ordered the P.14 sliced brisket and meatball pho and a papaya bubble tea.
The pho was great, although I missed out on the hot chili oil another reviewer mentioned. The restaurant was very busy, it's the first chilly week here and I'm guessing a hot bowl of pho was hitting the spot for many people, so my table was kind of improvised. Still, I got plenty of bean sprouts and basil, and I really enjoyed the pho.
The papaya bubble tea was pretty disappointing. I was definitely drinking a papaya milk shake rather than any sort of tea. It had a grand total of five frozen tapioca pearls in the bottom. So when you really wanted the classic milk tea with boba pearls and instead you get a frozen milkshake with papaya syrup it doesn't quite hit the spot.
I will probably be back for the pho, but I've gotta find somewhere else for my boba.
Edit: second visit 10-15-2020
My second visit was much more satisfying. I avoided the boba and instead got the hot tea, which was a delicious jasmine tea. I tried the A6 chargrilled chicken springs rolls and OMG. Everyone needs to try them. The pho was amazing again, this time I got the P12 with chicken. Their broth is...
Read moreFirst time here and eating Pho. My wife has been curious about eating at Phở Thanh My. And with all of the social media trends of eating Pho. Today we decided to try it. So essentially, it's just broth. But with fillers of your choice. I had beef and steak. My wife had shrimp, crab and squid. Rice noodles, basil, cilantro, bean sprouts, red onions, green onions make the soup. Food: The food tastes good, If you're looking to be stuffed. Then this is probably not your dish. For this time of the year, I can see why a person would order this dish. It does have this comfort food vibe about it. Personally, I would ask for more meat due to the amount of broth provided. For us, it seems like we had more broth than meat. Or maybe more rice noodles. Either or. Service: The woman that served us was patient and very understanding that was our first time ordering from Phở Thanh My. And walked us through the menu. Again, the Service I would give 5 stars. Since we did not dine in, I don't have any to comment on for the atmosphere. Other than that it seems cozy and personal. Like I came to eat, I did. And now I'm leaving. Thank you. I believe my wife and I will be back to try different dishes and see what...
