Sushi Basho...words can’t describe this pitiful restaurant, but here it goes. Me and my boyfriend went on a Monday night to this sushi place call “Sushi Basho.” There were maybe 4 tables so we thought it was our lucky day. We sat down and started to look at our menu and our waitress came over, who was very pleasant at first. We ordered wine and waters and an appetizer and chose our sushi right away. We get our wine in about 7 minutes, which seemed kind of long but we didn’t think of it. 20 minutes went by, still no appetizer...40 minutes go by, still no appetizer...mind youthe table next to us and behind us got there after us and they received their drinks and appetizers within 10 minutes. Maybe she was busy we thought...the table behind gets their sushi, their drinks refilled and tended to their every need. Our waitress hasn’t come by, asked us how we are doing, given us our appetizer or anything. An hour goes by and by then we weren’t getting hangry and just plain upset. We talk amongst ourselves and say we will give them 15 more minutes, if she doesn’t even come around by then, we will just leave. 13 minutes go by, and the table to the left of us gets their sushi and now we are fed up...we gather our things, leave money and a tip for our drinks and walk out, furious and starving we end up going to Freddie’s down the street because we were just too hungry to sit down and wait at another restaurant. Well, it turns out I left both of my fabs to my car in the restaurant and we call them and see if we left them at the restaurant, and this woman, who was our waitress from the night before, had the audacity to lie to me over the phone about not seeing my keys, and then proceeds to make up what happened that night and said they wouldn’t give me my keys back unless I paid for the food we “walked out” on...we get there and she says the owner isn’t there so we can’t talk to them. We demanded my keys and she said of course, here they are. We asked them if they wanted us to pay for our meal, and she said, “I don’t know why you walked out without paying for your food, it was ready when you left.” Oh...how convenient for our food, which is sushi by the way, how long does sushi take to make??? Especially the amount of three rolls?? The sushi chefs could feed a full restaurant in the matter of an hour and they couldn’t get ours out in that amount of time? She forgot about our meal, and frankly about us...and said she was just super busy...WE WERE THERE WATCHING HER THE WHOLE TIME! If she would’ve just came over and keep us updated we may not have been so upset but this restaurant is not one I would...

Do Not…I Repeat….Do Not…order sushi from here, if you can call it that. I found a long black hair in sushi. And the lobster in the lobster tempura is so over cooked that’s it’s as chewy as a rubber ball. I had to spit it out. My daughter will eat sushi from anywhere and she also spit it out. She said she likes the King Soopers and Safeway sushi better! I was so disgusted that I threw it all away. I called them a few hours later when I was able to ask for a refund, which I never do. This crazy B&@*% spends ten minutes yelling at me that I should have taken a picture, I should drive 1 hour back to show the hair to her, and says that me doing that and more is more important than the actually important things I had to do before I called. I feel like I should known how bad it would be from the start. Before I ordered, I called to make sure the menu is correct because I’m allergic to Kani. The menu and this woman did not mention Kami on the Lobster Tempura Roll. I looks like noodles puked on a roll. I asked how long the wait for an order might be and she said there is no one there, so quick. It’s 12:15! No one. When I got there, she was looking her phone and barely gave me any attention. She asked me what rolls I ordered even though the chefs were not even doing any orders and there were mo orders on the counter. Still no one there. My two sushi roll containers were sitting on a counter without a lid. She took them over to the counter next to the door to bag them. Not a single word more. It felt like she was saying “Here’s your slop”, when she handed the bag to me. So, I guess I shouldn’t have been surprised by the very low quality of the meat. I suspect the “real crab” is canned. And absolutely nothing was fresh. It was all frozen. When I called for the refund this psycho yelled at me and berated me for ten minutes before I finally hung up on her. Whoever you are reading this, I am so glad I could detour you from this nightmare....

I have been a patron of this Restaurant since 2005 when I worked for Dish Network across the street. It used to be a good value. Not as expensive as other upscale places with better ambiance but consistently good food. My wife and I would dine there maybe once a month, less during winter and then the pandemic. I supported local places like this as much as possible during the pandemic by ordering to go. I understand that the pandemic made things difficult and was understanding as I worked in the restaurant industry for 20 years. I decided to order takeout on June 16th about 6 pm. A google search brought up their menu. I ordered 3 rolls, gyoza, coconut shrimp and chicken fried rice. When I arrived to pick it up, there was a significant increase in the price. A $10 difference. When I pointed this out they rudely shouted at me the online prices were old. They refused to acknowledge that this was their mistake, within their power to fix, and even stated it had been outdated for years. They did not adjust the price. They did not apologize. They lost a 16 year customer and I will be sure to tell everyone I know not to patronize this place anymore. I hope the owner reads this and gets the online menu updated for their sake. But they probably got a PPP loan to cover their losses in 2020 and decided to ignore their longtime customers. P.S. typing this while eating dinner and it is of poor quality. I...

TL:DR - mediocre sushi, bad service, no A/C in 90+ degree weather I ordered "premium" sushi that was significantly more expensive than the the cheaper version of the same fish (example: fatty yellowtail vs regular yellowtail). Literally no difference in taste or appearance. The sushi was not great by any means. It's not that the food was bad, I did enjoy it to a certain degree, I've just had so so much better elsewhere. I feel that the five star reviews are coming from people who have not had top grade sushi. The service was really poor as well. They never asked if we wanted refills on our drinks, never asked how the food tasted. It was 90 degrees outside when we came in, and there was no A/C. I had to sit there with sweat dripping from my face throughout my meal. It was uncomfortable.

Honestly some of the best sushi in Denver, but the restaurant did have a couple flaws. We were seated and it took 10 minutes before we received our menus and chopsticks and it was over an hour of waiting for our appetizer + longer for the rest. Now, the servers were very nice and attended to us upon request, so I wouldn’t entirely blame them. It seems almost as if the restaurant doesn’t have the quantity of staff to run such a large sushi restaurant and there seemed to be a lot of confusion among the waiters/waitresses as to who was watching what table and what food went to which customers. All in all, we’ll be back because the food was superb, but may come at a less hectic time.

I was excited to try some spring rolls and veggie maki, and while the food was decent, the service and environment were disappointing. The most upsetting thing was this fish tank. There was a dead sea animal of some kind (a crustacean?) with their antenna twisted off to the side. The fish tank was extremely dirty and I feel awful for the animals/fishes inside, who have to swim in circles of filth. Really upsetting.
