Some friends and myself, a group of 4, visited Mystic Escape Room today for our first time in the Book of Souls room. We are a group of intermediate escapists.
The room was awesome - one of the best that I've ever done! It was well-themed that was fully cohesive, had a great pace, and it showed off some neat tricks that none of us had seen in other rooms!
Our party did complete the room with 3 minutes to spare. I believe that the Medium difficulty given to the room is appropriate. Don't do this as your ever first room - it has some interesting tricks to it that beginners may become quickly stuck on.
My only complaint, if you would call it that, is that it may have spoiled us for the other rooms at the location! We were informed that it was the newest room and has some of the more interesting features, so now we might feel like we're taking a step down if we come back to the other rooms! In other words, my only complaint is that the room was too good!
P.S. For management/ownership, your website sells you short! Book of Souls, and I expect the other rooms as well, was very vibrant and a quality room, but the website does not...
Read moreLet me first preface my review with some context. My wife and I have been to a lot of escape rooms over the years. There are some rooms that are actually multiple rooms you have to escape. We've been to some where we had to literally crawl into a space in order to get the next clue. We've been to escape rooms where the adventure was very elaborate, but the execution was poor. In general, my experience has taught me that the more rooms that are involved in an escape, the funner the entire experience. This wasn't the case with Mystic Escape Room.
We did The Book of Souls escape room and had a hell of a time. At first I was a bit nervous, given that the experience would all take place in one room -- a somewhat sized room at that -- but once we started I quickly realized how much time and effort came into designing the rooms and adventures. You will not believe the effects and engagement you'll experience with this room. Typically rooms have you using just one or two of your senses, this room has you using three.
The puzzles are challenging but not impossible, and the game master we had was super nice and quick to get us...
Read moreWe visited in June 2025. The game would have been fun even though we didn’t escape. But we had all sorts of communication problems with our game host, with mumbling and low sound. It was terrible so the hints were partially relayed or delayed. And then a more senior staff member stepped in on the mic and was rude to us because we were frustrated. We could hear HER. It was as if it was our problem that their technology was weak. I have never encountered an escape room experience that would leave a bad taste in my mouth. But for this reason I would never return. Game hosting is one thing, but there were no apologies or gestures from them either and it wasn’t our fault. It was my nephew’s first time at an escape room so it was a bummer that this happened... Also, I’ve never experienced a venue where they are so small that they make you stand out on the porch until the next group is moved into their room. Hope they have improved their systems and staff and that others don’t experience...
