Quick Edit: Owner I see the response to this. Actually read through everything here. Your response just doesn't look great after all that is here. The "problems" were not surface issues and not solvable by talking to staff. I told you this in person. When I said "I can't just ask you to change ingredients or the prices" I assumed you read the original 10 sentence review. This is not a trash talk review.
O.K. food at very high prices. Cheap food pretending to be fancy. Even higher drink prices. 3 well shots for $32. They don't seem to have shot glasses, so they just give out lowballs. Some shots were doubles at least due to poor measuring I guess. I don't know if our server Lauren was new, but I'm not sure I would believe anything else. Amazing ignorance of their own menu with specific rules for larger parties. We had to ask multiple times for the rest of our required premeditated orders before the party arrived. Ice cream was melted when it came out, but I can't blame physics for slow service during a slow night. The view is the only good thing from this place.
*Weirdly within 10-15 seconds of posting this an employee/owner? confronted me about my review. I get not wanting poor reviews and maybe wanting constructive criticism, but this seemed a bit off. He seemed hostile. Asked if I asked anybody to fix the problems for us. I let him know there wasn't really an immediate fix and that I can't ask them to change their prices or ingredients just for me. He asked again if I asked anybody to fix the problems. I said goodnight and left.
And a message for the obviously very involved and caring employee/owner. I get it. Bad review suck and hurt businesses. If you came up more friendly and wanted legit feedback that may have bounced my opinion. I am not going to assume your intention, but it resulted in a good amount of us feeling intimidated. You can just write me off as an idiot if you think I'm complaining about nothing or you can take any review and try to change negative aspects as appropriate. If you're thinking "well why didn't you say this while we were talking," your body language screamed threatening. Sorry. I didn't want to make it look worse around the other patrons.
You have a great unique spot and atmosphere, but I think the identity is split between bar food and highish dining. Maybe push towards having cheaper pub comfort food or a fine dining experience, but going for both seems to muddle it. I don't have the market research, but I understand why burgers and the like would be good around this place since Alehouse and others are around the corner. You can either try and beat the other places at their game, or carve an identity as a classy rooftop dining experience.
Its a 1 star from 2 star now. Ill be paying attention to this place and hoping for positive changes. Good luck man, I really mean it. I would love to be able to go to a place like this every other...
Read moreI recently visited this restaurant with my friend, and while things started off well, our experience quickly took a disappointing and uncomfortable turn. After ordering our food, our server encouraged us to try some drinks and recommended one in particular. We asked for it based on his suggestion. At first, he didn’t check our IDs, but then returned later requesting them. I didn’t have mine on me and politely said I’d just stick with water. My friend, who drove us, had her valid ID and she had ordered a Coke as well as the drink. Instead of the server returning, a woman—who I assume was the owner—came out with the Coke and began speaking to us in an extremely rude and condescending tone. She accused my friend of using a fake ID and made inappropriate comments, including warnings about legal consequences “woman to woman,” all without any evidence or proper conduct. Her attitude was aggressive, unprofessional, and entirely out of line. What made the situation worse is that my friend’s ID was valid. There was no cause for such accusations or the manner in which they were delivered. We also couldn’t help but feel racially profiled, especially as we were speaking Arabic prior to the incident. It felt like we were being unfairly targeted, and this is not how any customer—regardless of background—should be treated. Feeling deeply disrespected, we chose to leave before our food arrived. As we exited, another staff member made a comment that we “shouldn’t come back,” confirming that we were not welcome. This was an upsetting experience and I cannot in good conscience recommend this place. We came to enjoy a meal and were instead made to feel...
Read moreI am only giving them one star because I can't give zero. We were 5 party of people we reserved the place and when we show up the host wasn't nice and friendly at all. she showed us table that was set in a windy position and not comfortable to sit with no heater and no one was sitting there . We talked to her she didn't seem to care and she said that's the only place they have. Me and my friends we didn't blame her since there was no table available and waited patiently after some minutes a group of people left that were sitting in a middle venues and we asked her if we can sit there and she said sorry that's reserved, we'll we reserved too, but why are you giving us uncomfortable or impossible place to sit, and giving that one other people which they didn't show up yet . That's was a pure discrimination to me, if she told us when we were booking the place we have to pick a specific table we would have done that otherwise when you reserve a table and both customer are there they should give to the person who come first, in this case the other customer wasn't even there yet. So I talked to her that they should fix theirs service, we drove all the way from oakland to come to that place , we left the place immediately and I was in shock with their poor...
