Throwback to Drive In/Diner

My visit was on a Thursday evening. It was fairly busy inside, but only 1 car outside at a drive-in bay. It could be the sweltering weather or maybe it’s just more comfortable to eat a table than in your car. It reminded me of A&W back in the day. I have nothing against eating in your car and car-hops. I like them. It has been years since I ate at a Daly’s. Service was pretty good. I sat at the counter since all the booths were full. I looked over the menu and decided on a junior Daly Burger and a Junior Daly Dog with a Chocolate Malt. I received my Malt in a few minutes. The taste was good but the straw opening was slightly on the small side. The shake was not overly thick and it did make it through the straw but a larger opening would be better. The burger and Hot Dog came and both were good. The buns were soft & fresh. The burger had the special Daly sauce which I found tasty. Burger was good but I think a larger burger would be better, but for the price it was reasonable. The Dog was ok. I would rather have a natural casing Hotdog. Dalys’ are skinless. I am not against skinless That’s just my preference. Overall it was ok. I had better I’ve had worse. I would put this in the middle of the pack Atmosphere Daly Drive In is a throwback to simpler times. Clean but dated on the inside. Several pictures around showing it’s history. Several booths and tables on one side of restaurant. The other side is made of counters and stools Noise Level Average noise level

Meal Junior DalyBurger $2.89, Junior Dalydog $ 2.89, Meduim Chocolate Malt $4.29, total with tax $10.67 Open 11:00am – 8:00pm Sun-Thur 11:00am – 9:00pm Fri & Sat

Wheelchair Access Normal door access. Parking in lot in front of building. Few handicapped spaces directly in front of door

I stopped here on a Friday afternoon for lunch with a coworker. I suggested that we try Daly's because I remember when I tried it at least 15 to 20 years ago them having a good hot dog but a couldn't recall much else about the place. We went inside to order takeout, and I could not remember being in a more dark, depressing atmosphere than that restaurant was inside. I understand that they might want to keep the old school feel to it, but for crying out loud please invest in some better lighting. So I found the atmosphere there to be one worth forgetting.

The service was respectable. The servers in the restaurant seem pretty pleasant. I had a good exchange with the gal who took my to-go order.

Now for the food. The only value in the food was the Dalydog for $6.99, and would be the only thing that would ever get me going there ever again. The Daly Burger was a better disappointment and is no value at any price. I got a vanilla shake which was so so. I wound up patting myself on the back when my coworker ordered some fries that were soggy and tasteless. I would be embarrassed as a restaurant owner for that type of food to be going out to the public.

I understand that you are catering to a very local and regular customer base, and much of what you are currently doing probably works for them. It didn't work for me unfortunately, and I know that my coworker and I...

any other day I would give Daly's a 5 star rating because of food and service. I have been going there for over 30 years. They used to be a cash only with an ATM in there so you could always pay with cash. We got there today (we go at least every other week) got there when they opened at 11 am ordered our meals waited forever for our check because I guess the computers went down and they had to manually add our receipt fine thats ok. Manager comes out with our bill and I proceed to hand him my debit.credit card and he said the computers are down cash only. I said well you should have had the waitress tell us before we ordered cash only and he said there is a sign on the door and one of the nice waitress told him "they were here before you put the sign up" so as we are digging thru our purses for $18.00 I said I guess I could write a check he said we don't take checks again digging thru our purses he finally said I will take a check this once. I feel as long time patrons of the establishment and the fact that we were not advised that the computers were down and cash only before we ordered they should have given us the meal for free. it is not our fault computers went down and lack of communication. Ver...

Honestly I was very disappointed! Stopped because my daughter insisted. Hadn’t been in a long time. When we arrived there were about 5 other vehicles all which were being serviced and eating. Placed a simple 2 item order. Waited! Waited! Waited until I noticed the lot was empty except for one other car. I pressed the button again to ask if they had an estimated time or if something was wrong. The waitress asked me what had I ordered at which point I knew they weren’t bringing the order out. I was asked to repeat the order and told that the order hadn’t been placed. The waitress who brought the order out finally apologized and stated that the person took the order but didn’t put it in. I’m truly bewildered. It troubles me that the waitress walked by the car SEVERAL times not stopping to ask if we’d been taken care of. I appreciate that they didn’t charge my daughter for her food, yet am discouraged from returning as I’m not sure of whether the intentions of the waitress were on purpose, as she should have personally apologized and corrected her mistake IF it was a mistake. I didn’t bother taking a pic of my daughters food as my disgust wouldn’t allow me to.

Can’t believe in my 30 years living here I’ve not been to Daly’s🥴 My husband (73) grew up in the neighborhood (Devonaire ) went to St Mike’s as a kid and Daly’s was part of his life all up through high school- Not only was the decor nostalgic ( reminded me of Pizza Hut back in the 70’s) but the history is very interesting- The waitress was so nice, welcoming and answered several questions about the original in ‘48 and this location- Very clean and well maintained- Prices are reasonable and on par to others selling similar- I had the original Daly burger w/ sauce - It was very tasty! I like the sweet / tart, relish sauce- Makes the burger unique but very tasty- love a burger on a sesame seed toasted bun- Husband had a Daly no sauce but lots of onions and pickles- Enjoyed very much- I know this will be on our lunch rotation ( maybe even dinner) -
