The hotel needs repair. Listed in order of exposure.
(1) Stench in hallways of mold, rot, refuse. Vaguely apparent at check-in. Smell of smoke apparent as well (cigarettes).
(2) The hallways were water logged, evidenced by pooling water on the excessively worn carpet-lined hallways and "wet floor" signs posted not more than every 20". Water pooling caused by either failing pipes or failing roof, through walls, and leaking into the building inclusively. Significant amount of water (above the rim of the sole of a shoe).
(3) Room floor pooling water under "nightstand" between beds. Water flowing from wall cavity. DANGEROUS: amount of electrical in same location.
(4) Poor performing room heaters. There was no "control" to the volume or temperature of heat. They would only operate at full blast hot or cool and the noise created was extremely disruptive.
(5) Poor insulation. Cold air poured in from the sliding doors when closed and secured. Cause need for heater operation (previously identified as extremely poor and disruptive).
(6) MATTRESSES: HORRID. Stains, debris, food, etc on mattresses-UNSANITARY. Thin sheets do not fully cover mattresses. Mattresses need replacement and encapsulated properly to prevent infestations and unsanitary transmissions.
(7) Floors uneven- in rooms and hallways. HIGH likelihood of HEALTH HAZARDOUS MOLD growth in walls and under flooring due to excessive amount of pooling fluids and uneven floors. TRIP HAZARDS.
(8) Access hallways FALL HAZARD. Insufficient mats present with external and internal conditions presenting constant slip probability on slick flooring. Access points extremely slippery due to external snow and internal pooling water.
(9) HAZARDOUS parking lot. Excess snow and ice accumulation - no removal evidenced. FALL HAZARD in parking lot and external walkways.
(10) Bathroom poorly maintained and in disrepair. Toilet "ran" constantly and inconsistently. Filth on floor, toilet and sink area. Poor "repairs" around mirror. Vents poor, afterthought.
"How was our stay" was not asked.
Highly recommend report to and inspection by health department or the state consumer protection office. The hazards created an unreasonable risk of harm. The hotel knew or should have known about it and failed to repair, remove, or warn you against the numerous hazards. "Wet Floor" sing on a carpeted area is only indicative of great problems...
Read moreI want to stress that the staff at this hotel were about as helpful and friendly as possible, really good hardworking people. They definitely do their best with what they've got... it's just that what they've got that needs razed.
From the rooms to the exterior, this entire building is falling apart and has one of those smells that is so deeply embedded in the walls that you can't bleach it away. The online photos are very deceiving. This is a sad, sad building.
There was garbage and debris all over the exterior. Mud ground into the carpets. Most of the furniture in our room was stained (bedspread, office chair, ottoman). The sink emitted a strong sulfur-like odor. My shoes repeatedly got stuck to the floor next to the toilet. I think there was some sort of adhesive spilled there. The water temperature in the shower fluctuated greatly no matter what time of day it was. The tile was stained with mold and mildew. There was a constant high-pitched hum coming from the bathroom at night.
The laundry room consisted of 3 very beat up washers and 1 dryer that seemed to be decades old. At least one had leaked all over the floor. The 4 machines seemed to be racing each other across the room. Perhaps trying to escape? The ice machine was missing a cover, revealing that the inside was choked in dust.
Although we were given a code to the side door, it never seemed to be locked. Also, there was no elevator, which isn't normally a terrible thing in a 2 story hotel, but we had two weeks worth of belongings to carry in from being on the road.
I realize their rates are low and you tend to get what you pay for, but we've stayed in other area hotels at a similar price point without so many problems. Bare bones is fine if it's clean and functional. This Quality Inn was neither.
We didn't bother complaining to the front desk, because the condition of this building was clearly far beyond their control. A new room wouldn't have changed anything. No amount of day to day cleaning and maintenance can save this place. It needs a full rehabilitation. I'm not really the complaining type, but I would not spend another dime on this...
Read moreWe arrived to the hotel shortly after 1am today after an 8 hour car ride.
When we got there we waited to be checked in. Once it was our turn the front desk person (older gentleman, prior pilot from what he stated later ) ask for my information and once I gave it to him he stated that he would not honor my Hotwire booking as he was not going to give us a room for $50.
He rudely gave me my phone back and told me to call Hotwire because it’s not the hotel’s responsibility
When I told him that it’s not my fault that his hotel was placed on third party websites at a cheaper price then they wanted and they should call Hotwire to discuss it not me he stated that there was nothing he could do and that he didn’t have any available rooms anyway When I told him his customer service was lacking he became very upset and stated that “what you think I should go to school for customer service “ he went on to tell me how he was a pilot and raised 4 smart children and this is his retirement and how he’s been up since 10am dealing with people complaining and that he doesn’t have time to deal with me
At that point he was loud and I told him I didn’t not mention his education nore discussed his job significance just that he had poor customer service.
When he became loud with me my husband told him not to speak to me that way and stated to chill This man pointed at the camera and stated we were being taped and we could call the manger .
We were two African American people and it being Livonia at 130am I knew what he was implying
So I again told him he was very disrespectful and this was poor service
He tried to tell us we could go or stay and have a double room at that point I felt very uncomfortable with even being there or giving my money to an establishment that was so poor to its customers and bluntly refused us service to begin with .
We left and now have no accommodations for the weekend as all hotels in the area are booked
Please beware...
