20221203 update: star gained. Service was again spot on. Tuscan chicken was excellent. Gnocci was good - not the best; not the worst. House salad was good - no odd sweetness. Pasta fagioli was good.
Service was excellent - our server was attentive, but not to the point of being of being obnoxious - just right! The deep-dish pizza, though decent, was not as good as we’d hoped it would be. There didn’t appear to be any tomato sauce on it, and the lack significantly detracted from what would otherwise have been a good one. The antipasto salad was nice enough, but the house Italian dressing served with it had a sweetness that just doesn’t belong in such a dressing. The bread served with seasoned dipping oil was great. The oil was not the EVOO we are used to - it was either a light olive oil or a flavorless vegetable oil - very light, and sort of refreshing in comparison. The cannolis for desert were good - the filling was not overly sweet as with some renditions. The shells were a bit thicker and harder than most I’ve had, and, unfortunately, you could taste the oil the shell was fried in and it tasted like it needed changing.
Finally, I had ordered a Bell’s Oberon, and it arrived with a slice of orange on the glass. I really wish they’d ask if you wanted fruit in your beer (almost without exception, I do not), or that it mentioned that it was served with fruit in the menu so you could tell them to hold it. So many restaurants assume (wrongly) that certain beers should be served with citrus, and all that it does is detract from the flavor of the beer… (a rant for another day, I guess).
All in all: not somewhere I’d avoid, and I do plan to return to try some of their other fare - man does not live on pizza, antipasto salad, and...
Read moreOk firstly we entered as a group of 7. Everyone ordered drink, we all received our drinks except for my mother. She waited patiently and as they sat the bread down she immediately asked for butter. My mother is a organic eater and she will not touch butter at all unless it's real butter. The waiter came back with butter in the packs and she asked if he could soften it under there heat lamps. He of course obliged and took it away. She waited another few minutes until interrupting another server about the butter. She also mentioned she had not received her drink yet. The server left to go check on the butter, our original waitress came out with a huge bowl of whipped butter from the back. Clearly not butter and she stressed to our waitress in the beginning. Then said I cant eat this, this is not butter and I still dont have my drink and the bread was cold coming out. Her dinner meal was ruined and she was upset and telling our waitress then the manager walks out and without hesitation says what going on and my mother starts to speak and the manager immediately says you know what this dinner experience isnt going to work out and says he is going to tell his cooks to cancel our meal. No one was upset in our party except one and he didnt even attempt to rectify the situation. He immediately stopped our experience. I am in complete appall of how the situation was handled. I know I could not recommend this place. ...
Read moreStopped here because pizza sounded good and they had a great offer on Yelp. They have a nice indoor seating area and a small patio at the from of the restaurant. We sat outside, which was very nice, however you can get a few smells of cigarette smoke from the parking lot. There were also a few cigarette buts in some of the planters on the patio, which is the main reason I'm taking a star off this review, just seemed a little gross.
The service was really good, except for telling the hostess we had two people and her saying it would be a 25 minute wait to be seated with there were two or three two person tables inside. She told us we could sit outside if we wanted, so could not figure that one out, however we wanted to anyway. The waitress we had was really good, offered us great advice on what to order, and stayed on top of anything else we needed.
We ordered their family deal, which includes a large pizza, table bread, and salad. We added a cheese bread, which ended up being way more food than we needed, as the table bread was more than good enough. The salad could have used a little more dressing, but was okay. The cheese bread was super cheesy and very tasting. The pizza was good, but the curst by far was the best part. It was super crunchy and cooked to perfection.
Overall, it was a great experience and I would recommend...
