When the owner is away, the staff is TERRIBLE! It's too bad, because when the owner IS there, the service is as spectacular as the food... for a sub shop. For the 2nd time in as many weeks, the night staff REFUSES to answer the phone between 5-6 pm, which i can only assume is one of the BUSIEST times of the day. I can also only imagine how much business/PROFIT the owner is LOSING due to his lazy, rude staff. The first time, I probably called 50 times without an answer, trying to save TIME by having the food ready when I got there. The second time, yesterday, after calling about 15 times to place the order, the taller of the 2 guys that works at night (that I've seen, the shorter guy is just blah, not good or bad, just there) answered and told my wife "it doesn't help when you call back to back, there are only two of us here, she was on the grill and I was in the BATHROOM" with an attitude to boot. No one in that capacity should be rolling deuces at such a busy hour of the day. By the time I got there about 5 minutes later, they were just starting to make the order. BOTH times, there was no one else there and since they don't answer the phone and they clearly weren't busy making OTHER orders. I even sat in the lobby for 2-3 minutes before they even acknowledged me and asked my reason for being there. I get that it's not the most glorious job, we all start somewhere, but I'm someone who has been on the other side of the counter and I appreciate what the service industry takes, especially when it comes to dealing with unruly customers. I ALWAYS tip, unless something like THIS happens, but more than anything, the guy who owns the place, who has been there for 30+ YEARS and is an immigrant who came to this country with nothing and built a wonderful life for himself and his family, one sub at a time, deserves a staff that runs the place the same way whether he's there or not! I can not imagine how many hundreds, maybe THOUSANDS of dollars not answering the phone during the "dinner rush" has cost him on just the 2 days my family happen to crave subs. If I'm mistaken and I did just HAPPEN to come on the only 2 days they don't answer the phone in a long time, I offer my most sincere apology and I will be HAPPY to redo my review. But I also fear, along with spit in my food from now on, that without reviews like THIS, places like Tubby's run the risk of failing without the TRUE issues being addressed. Tubbys is a STAPLE in region and a Michigan original, alienating customers who value their time and do as we are SUPPOSED to do in this situation, is just bad business. This is not necessarily a "complaint", nor do I want anyone to lose their job over this. This is CONSTRUCTIVE CRITICISM meant to IMPROVE the experience for everyone involved! I only hope that respect is shown to the owner by the staff that is fortunate enough to have an income in today's busted world and compassion shown to employees who clearly need more TRAINING to keep the PICKY j-rk customers, who just want the phone answered, like me happy and coming back, quick to throw an extra dollar or two in the tax free tip jar, which adds up over the year! Again, I hope no jobs are lost and only improvements are made, but most importantly, I hope no one gets mad, figures out who this is and spits...
Read moreI recently visited Tubby’s Sandwich Place, and it was quite an experience! The first thing I noticed was a bit of a hustle and bustle as they were installing brand-new countertops. Despite the construction, the place was impeccably clean, showing their commitment to maintaining a top-notch environment for their customers.
The owner greeted us with a warm smile and genuine friendliness, instantly making us feel like regulars. The atmosphere was inviting and comfortable, perfect for a casual meal.
But let’s talk about the star of the show: the food. It was absolutely excellent! Each sandwich was crafted with care, featuring fresh ingredients and flavors that really stood out. Whether you’re a fan of classic deli sandwiches or more adventurous combos, Tubby’s has something to satisfy every palate.
Overall, Tubby’s Sandwich Place is a hidden gem that’s worth the visit, whether you’re a local or just passing through. Great food, great service, and a welcoming vibe – what more could...
Read moreHonestly my only real complaint when I go in. There are two guys that work there. The taller guy when he goes to take the order stands there in front of the cash register looking at his phone. The smaller guy usually starts to take my order before the other guy gets off the phone to finish. I've seen the tall guy do the same thing when the lady is there too. The little guy and the lady are always super nice and friendly. Highly recommend them. Though I was reading though the other reviews. There was one by Guy Williams who had a giant review who at one point complained that an employee shouldn't be allowed to use the restroom. I pray that you can see that that person was just an internet troll trying to make up as many things as possible to cause trouble for that store. Thank you for...
