Man, I generally have nothing but good things to say about this place. I stopped there tonight with my wife (I was taking her to work) and my son to have dinner before my wife went off to work. The restaurant was mostly empty which is fine. It was early. Our waiter was incredibly slow and inattentive. After we ordered, we got our appetizers, And they were pretty good. Meanwhile, our waiter is too busy talking to the wait staff, other people in the kitchen and apparently some friends who were eating at another table. (Or he may have just been incredibly slow taking their order as he was with ours, he was at the table for more than 20 minutes taking an order. Work talking) The manager comes by and asks if we need anything, all of our drinks were empty, My wife wanted some cheese and bacon bits for her baked potato. The manager was on the ball and got the stuff to us promptly. Shortly after work, we observed the manager having a meeting with all the wait staff, just a few feet away. I'm not sure what he said, Pat, A few minutes later the waiter came by and asked if we needed anything, my drink and son's drink was empty again and we both asked for a refill, The waiter took our glasses into the kitchen and was muttering something under his breath. As he walked away, he was clearly pissed off, And his service just went downhill from there. Meanwhile, I ordered a rare hamburger, With everything except the jalapeno peppers and the onions, my wife ordered a medium hamburger with only ketchup and and pimento cheese, My son ordered a ribeye steak. Somehow, either due to the waiter or not paying attention when taking our order (highly likely because he made zero notes) or the kitchen staff not paying attention (unlikely because they usually are spot home). My hamburger had the patty that was supposed to be on my wife's and vice versa. After waiting about 10 or 15 minutes for him to come back by, we gave up in just ate because my wife had to be at work. She also ran out of her drink and my son ran out again and we finally asked a different waitress if she would refill our drinks and she happily obliged. When the waiter did come back, we explained the problems with our burgers and he said he was sorry, but nothing else was said or done. We had to ask for every single refill that was made in our table. And when he bought us the final refill, as he walked off, I was trying to tell him we needed our check because my wife was going to be late for work if it took much longer. he said he would " be right back". Apparently wherever he come from, be right back means 20 minutes later. We finally asked someone else for the check and he brought it out and said he was sorry about the "technical difficulties" I'm guessing my technical difficulties. He meant his inability to see our empty glasses and to properly relay our order to the kitchen staff, but I'm not sure, he didn't say. We also asked for a bag says my wife could put the extra food that she ordered for her supper at work tonight. He never brought that out, we had to ask for it again at the front desk as we were walking out the door. I will definitely be back but if this guy's waiting on my table when I get there, I will get up and leave or ask for a different member of...
Read moreRUN don't walk, to this restaurant in Locust, NC. I have taken my husband for his birthday and my mom for her birthday within the past month. There was not one thing I have eaten or drank that was not a solid delight of the senses here.
On our first visit, I was throughy impressed by the cheese & charcuterie board, definitely get yourself the full board, flavors are explosively delightful. Both my husband and myself enjoyed the boldly combined flavors of the House Burger with the loaded pub fries. Utterly fantastic, our table was so pleased with the experience we had to send our thanks back to the kitchen and we were privileged to chat with the chef for a bit!
Our second visit was just that much more. My mom and I enjoyed a mind-blowing lunch enjoying variations of our favorite, salmon. She enjoyed a lovely Salmon Salad sandwich with steamed buttered broccoli. I fell absolutely in love with the delicately crispy Fire-Roasted Salmon in a creamy lemon beurre blanc with charred brussel sprouts. Is it uncouth to want to lick your plate?🤔 We paired our lunch with the suggested Peach Sangria which was so deliciously refreshing, the temptation to make it just a liquid lunch was definitely there 😂.Summer joy in a glass. Needing to sate a sweets craving we enjoyed a smooth creamy chocolate mousse as well as a utterly perfect creme brulee for dessert.
I would be remiss not to pay the highest of compliments to the Local Room staff. They are personable, affable, and are top-notch at making your meal an amazing experience. My apologies, I can't remember our initial servers name but our last visit was entertaining and memorable thanks to Freddy, who made my mom's birthday luncheon just that much more lively and fun.
This is not just another restaurant to eat the same food your mamaw is making in her kitchen as I write. This is a restaurant to have an experience to wow your palate. Lil pricey, but worth...
Read moreWent with my wife and 2 other fiends on a Friday. Thankfully we had reservations because it would have been a 45 minute wait. Great atmosphere, pleasant and welcoming staff, intriguing menu. The cocktails were fantastic and very reasonably priced, tons of bar seating.
The 4 of us tried several items on the menu including the southern egg rolls which were amazing. Great flavor, crunchy on the outside as expected, very well seasoned.
Our salads were well presented and elegant.
I ordered the 10oz ribeye Au Poivre and it was cooked a perfect medium rare. I've struggled with restaurants in Charlotte and surrounding areas to get the temp right, Local Room kitchen nailed it! I would have liked some more seasoning, i.e. a touch more salt on the steak and that would have raised the bar yet another notch. The mushroom risotto was rather cool/clumpy. The poutine fries were delicious, the goat cheese added a nice tang to the gravy. Would defiantly order that again.
Desserts were the perfect size, fresh, balanced flavors and left us wanting to try the rest. Sweet potato pie and the brownie are a great shareable as well.
Over all I though the restaurant has great potential. Touch more seasoning in the right places would have had me give 5 stars. It was super busy so small mistakes can get overlooked. I think that at least is an easy fix. I love the wine list variety, fresh, seasonal ingredients and, core philosophy of the menu. With that comes a slightly higher check average but its worth it knowing you are getting quality over quantity. Looking forward to...
