UPDATE: April 2. 3024 We went back some months later and loved our second experience. We have been back several times now with no complaints. Food has been great and we now love this restaurant! First Review (during Covid): We decided to try a little Mexican restaurant we discovered while in Locust a few weeks ago, Mi Fuente Family Mexican Restaurant. Driving from Charlotte to get there didn’t take all that long since we were on the outskirts of Mint Hill. From the outside it looks somewhat run down, and could use a little love. Once inside we were met with a hostess who was wiping down the menus with a very strong sanitizer – it made me cough, but I was glad she was doing that. She, as well as the other servers and staff, were wearing masks. We were seated in a small room off of the main dining area. They did have tables and booths marked off for social distancing. It is still such a small room, and two couples came in not wearing masks, which made us cringe. We are in the high risk groups and so were those two couples, so we were wondering why they weren’t wearing a mask. We were seated in this small room first and it was nice and quiet, but once others were seated there, it became loud and very noisy. The chips came out first and the salsa was in small carry out containers. The salsa was not the best I’ve ever had, but certainly not the worst either. There was some flavor, but it was not spicy and certainly freshly made. I ordered the make your own combination with one taco and one enchilada, which came with rice and refried beans. My husband ordered the small shrimp fajitas, which also came with rice and beans. My dish was what you would get at any little Mexican restaurant anywhere around Charlotte, Mint Hill, Matthews… I loved the cheese on my taco, but the meat was cold and had it not been for the cheese, there would be no flavor. The rice was good and the enchilada was typical of these small Mexican restaurants. My husband’s fajitas came on the same plate as his rice and beans and just with the salad part and sour cream – no Pico de gallo or guacamole. It didn’t come out sizzling on a little hot skillet, and he said he would not get it again. We didn’t get refills on our drinks until we were finished eating, and my husband’s lemonade had something black floating around in the glass, so he didn’t drink his only refill. Not a total loss, though, as we stopped at Wal-Mart on the way home and did a little shopping. Sorry Mi Fuente, we won’t be back.

We've gone here for years. Very consistent food with my favorite New Mexican Chicken. It's all I've ever had here for at least 15 years. The dip they give you with the tortillas is the best. I can't say enough about how good the food is. The service has always been great, but this past Friday. The server was more concerned about sitting with a customer and ignoring the other customers. Well, at least the food is super good.

Took the family for lunch this past weekend, and we thoroughly enjoyed our food and drinks. I highly recommend the chimichanga. The way they fry their tortillas, it's like crunchy and soft at the same time. Too good!!!!! Enjoy friends. (For added context, I'm from Southern California and I love Mexican food. This place ranks pretty high on my list). Enjoy friends.

So im a huge mex food guy. Im single and eat at mexican restaurants 5 times a week minimum. Arroz con pollo is a very typical dish. I order it frequently. NEVER ONE TIME have i gotten what i did here tonight. SHREDDED chicken, just boiled shedded chicken on rice... No peppers, onions, mushrooms... NOTHING but shredded chicken on what looked like white rice.... I seen 0 cheese even??? I took three bites, tried to doctor it w the ketchup style salsa, couldnt eat it. When I mentioned it to 4 servers, they LITTERALLY laughed at me !! Never a sorry, losiento, NADA!!! Guess ill have to stay in Charlotte for edible food. Oh they sure af took my $$$

Wow you got back to me within the week. I HONESTLY appreciate that! As a restaurant you make your own "personal" dishes, thats what can make your restaurant unique! My possible distaste for a dish you made, MOST LIKELY" would never have reached google review. However when i expressed my opinion to your staff AFTER paying, their laughter and discourteous, attitude , did. Im sorry for the issue, and thank you for...

We got lucky here and walked in about 5:00 just ahead of the early diner crowd on a Saturday. Must be a local favorite the dinning room filled up quickly. The staff was friendly and ready to serve us even though we were slow about deciding on our meals. Our food arrived piping hot even though they had gotten pretty busy it didn't sit long after being plated. The food here is quite tasty and they offer quite a variety of dishes. I got to try a chicken in a cream sauce that I haven't run across before and the black beans side was a great change up from the standard refried beans you get other places. Although the portions were not huge they were extreamly fair and filling for the money. I wasn't a big fan of the salsa they serve with their chips but we had ordered the cheese dip anyway and will definatly consider stopping again the next time we...
