=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=UPDATE APRIL 2016!=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= The food is now way better tasting just like when I used to go there exactly one year ago. They've returned some of the menu options and the Saturday lunch special which is very economical. Nice tasting food again, thanks. I recommend anyone going, fast service like it used to be. =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-==-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-==-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-==-=-= What happened!!!??? I first stumbled upon this restaurant about 2 years ago June of 2013, and it took a while to learn the menu, but all in all, the service used to be "5 STAR"!!! And I'm not even kidding, even on a busy night, things were swift and well done. Above all they 'had' friendly, ATTENTIVE, and CARING staff! The place was inviting and charming and every server was on the job 100% of the time striving to do their best. The food? It was the best food I've ever tried just about anywhere in Utah, a unique ham fried rice and the lemon, tiny spicy, and orange chicken flavors. Things went great those first 2 years I visited this place every 3 weeks or monthly. Then all changes about 2 months ago in early October 2015. A waiter told me that the owner had sold the restaurant and that food was now prepared more sweet, more raw (chicken and broccoli). 3 Weeks later I ordered what I do usually but now it has had a complete makeover, almost everything inside has been changed and look uninviting now. The food was actually VERY sweet & highly seasoned, and also raw-er with less time cooked probably. You could tell people around you didn't like it either since they only took a few bites of their plate and left it all. On server also mentioned me that several other people didn't go there no more because of the drastic menu change and flavor/style. The old servers probably quit or were fired since I don't see them there now. Worst of all this last time I just had to leave because I spent about 15 minutes waiting for a server come take my order, I glanced and everybody 'working' seemed slow-witted and plain old goofy & stupid on the job. I'd like to return but for now it's over. Please consider restoring the old Formosa menu and organize it a bit better with pictures. I don't like the current menu and options, they're too jumbled up, hard to visualize, and about $3-4 more expensive. Please do better job interviews, choose better people to work there, RESTORE THE OLD MENU, and not...
Read moreThe most outlandish take out experience I've ever had. I ordered for my husband house special egg foo young (not a spicy dish) with fried rice and Chinese bbq ribs. For myself, I ordered the wonderful shrimp entree with white rice (a spicy dish), hot and sour soup and an order of chicken wings for us both. We were the last order of the night, just before closing. When I left and opened my containers, the ribs were missing and I had two orders of what seemed to be the same entree (the wonderful shrimp dish). I called back to the restaurant and was told that the egg foo young was in one of the entree dishes. To my surprise it was! They had combined the two dishes together in one container. Two egg foo young patties smothered under the (spicy) wonderful shrimp entree! Needless to say, we had to throw it away. My husband and I went back to the restaurant to have a rational conversation about what had taken place hoping that the restaurant would at least acknowledge their wrong. Instead I was met with an off-the-wall explanation trying to convince us that this is the way their egg foo young is served and I should've asked beforehand since I'd never been there. Nevertheless, even if I'd never been there if I order two separate entrees I expect them to served as I ordered them-two SEPARATE entrees. There's no right way to explain that away. No reimbursement, no restitution, not even a sincere apology...just empty excuses. I'm really saddened that I had to write this negative review, but I had no choice simply because of their refusal to take responsibility for their wrong and show an inkling of customer service. I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS RESTAURANT AND I WILL NEVER...
Read moreI will start off by saying I used to love this place. They had a great value combo option and tasty food. This, unfortunately, is no longer the case. The quality of the food has gone down significantly over the last 6 months. I would quite often eat take out from here, say a couple times a month. The most saddening to me was the decline of their wonton soup. That soup had always been a go-to comfort food for me, especially when feeling under the weather. This soup can no longer be considered comforting however and in fact it is quite inedible now. Every time I have ordered this over the last 6 months it has gotten worse and worse as whoever is cooking it adds more and more black pepper each time. If liquid pepper is a possibility, it exists in this soup. Not to mention they no longer use fresh mushrooms in their entrées and now use canned. The consistency is way off as well, sometimes when I order their tiny spicy chicken it uses tender cuts and sometimes it's fried dark meat? They've just gotten lazy and cheap without lowering prices and long story short I will no longer be a customer. So sorry I kept giving them chances and wasting my money on food that...
