I visited Kater Shop in preparation for my wedding. The initial service was pretty decent, I was shown multiple suit options in the color choice my wife had selected for the wedding. The location did not have ties that matched what my fiance was looking for. The suits were much more expensive compared to some other options in town ($500 for two suits). I ended up splitting the cost with my younger brother who needed a suit as well.
Come to find out, the tailoring was a separate charge not baked into the already high price. I arrived back to the store two weeks later to pick up the tailored clothing and the front desk almost gave my wife a heart attack as they suddenly couldn't find my suit (we were less than 5 days from the wedding). After going to the back and searching the computer, they found the suit. No worries the suit was there and ready to go right?
I tried on the suit and made sure everything fit and stowed it away for our special day. On the day of the wedding the fly would not stay closed and instead opened everytime I sat down. The zipper opened at the seam so to fix the issue I had to carefully work it back down and up only to have it come apart once more. Not the most enjoyable experience as the center of attention in front of everyone.
I still figured I'd give the Kater Shop the benefit of the doubt, so I brought the suit in after our honeymoon and explained the situation. They apologized and took the suit into the tailor. They were 3 weeks out on a zipper replacement.
When I finally got the pants back, the stitching at the bottom of the zipper was not properly attached (see pictures below). I guess the tailor hadn't closed the stitching or something. Unfortunately, I didn't notice until I had left the store.
I decided to provide a negative review because I specifically chose this location based upon the nearly 5 star reviews. I have had a poor experience from start to finish and will be taking my 280 dollar suit to another location to get it properly fixed. Read moreThe purchasing process was fine but when I went to pick the suit up after alterations, they couldn't find the jacket anywhere. The funny thing is we didn't even have them alter the jacket so why was it the difficult item to locate? Shouldn't it be with the pants? I jokingly asked the sales person if they had sold our jacket to someone else. He said, "Maybe, but dont worry. If they cant find it in the back, we'll get u a new one soon from another store." I waited there for quite a while until I was late for another appointment and finally told the person at the desk that I had to leave. I gave them my phone number and asked them to please text me when they know whether they have it or not. I never received a text so I called later that night right before closing and talked to the salesman who sold us the suit. He said they still hadn't found it but that they'd get us another one. I said OK would you please text or call me when it gets in? No call. So I called last night and guess what, it was there! I received no notification until this morning after I'd called the night before and said no one had notified me of its arrival. Hmmm, the timing is suspicious. When I came into the store there was no one to be found and I had to look around the store until I found all the sales guys hanging out shooting the bull. I then asked if I could get some help finding out sizes and one of the guys pointed where to go. I went through the product, found what I liked and continued to look around. Throughout my entire time there (which ended up being about 40 minutes or so) I was not asked if I needed any help. No one explained any type of sale. There was just zero customer service. Now I work in retail and I understand it gets busy but it was dead in the store. I go out of my way to be friendly and I have never been a customer to just ignore or brush off sales associates by saying "Just looking." I wanted help but no one was willing in that store. I wanted to leave because I was just dumb founded on the awful customer service but I always support local. I picked out what I wanted and I had to go get a guy from the back to help write it up for me. He also did not give me any customer service and was rude.
