We decided to have a Sushi Date last night! Everything was SO good! Takara Sushi is one of the BEST places to go in Cache Valley for Sushi! Definitely check them out if you're in the area! #sushi #datenight #cachevalley #utah #utahfoodie

Tried Takara Sushi for the first time and probably won’t be back. The food was bland, ordered four different rolls (both raw and deep-fried) and they all tasted basically the same. Not much flavor overall. The ordering system is confusing. You’re expected to write your order on a piece of paper, which also lists their half-price sushi. No one explained this to us and when we asked how it worked, the staff acted like we were a burden for not knowing. Definitely didn’t feel welcomed. When we got our sushi, two rolls were on the same plate and we asked which was which. The server gave us a look like we had just deeply offended him. At one point, we tried to get more wasabi and made several attempts to get the attention of our server but she actively avoided eye contact, not just with us but with everyone around. It felt like the staff was doing everything they could to not engage with customers unless absolutely necessary. Just added to the overall uncomfortable vibe. Overall, the service was cold and uninviting. Not the kind of experience I’d want to repeat. I’m giving it 2 stars because it’s not the worst sushi I’ve ever had, the food was edible. But the experience overall was disappointing. The pricing is also misleading. Half the menu is labeled as “half price” but the other half isn’t discounted and costs $18–$24 per roll, which feels steep considering the lack of flavor and overall quality. Between the confusing ordering system, bland sushi and cold service, there are much better options out there.

Small shop with fast service. We came in at 9 and got it to go. It was confusing walking in because the sign outside seemed to say 50% off on all rolls because of the way it was formatted, but it was actually only select rolls. Should’ve read the finer print better. Any of their specialty rolls are full price, and at $18 a roll it is not a good price. We got a Kaleidoscope Roll, TNT, Anger Management, and Sunny Roll. Only the Kaleidoscope was full price. The total cost was $45 with some change, which also included an auto 10% gratuity added for take out. The TNT was the best. Nice spice to it and a good portion of soft tuna inside. The Sunny Roll was 2nd best. The mango and cream cheese were a nice, sweet combo that was interesting. Anger Management was good. The spicy mayo and flakes were the best part of the roll, making it a safe bet. The Kaleidoscope wasn’t worth it. The meat on top was bland. Not to mention it was the most expensive. All of the rolls were smaller than I was expecting, I usually find other places in SLC with better portions. Might be a good spot in Logan, but I found it overall expensive and unimpressive.

We come to this place all the time and have never had an issue, always excellent service, until last night. The waitress spilled an entire cup of soda on my 7 year old’s lap. It was a total accident and she was so embarrassed and I felt so sorry for her - accidents happen and I 100% understand that and am not upset in the least bit that she was having a rough night. However, no one came to clean up the floor or the chairs, so we proceeded to sit in a cup of spilled soda for our entire meal. The floor was sticky and my kid and I almost slipped and fell three times. My MIL asked for a warm towel to put on my kiddo’s lap so we could dry her off, and we were brought a soaking wet towel that reeked of bleach that I assume came out of the same bucket/sanitizer they use to wipe the tables down. We live 45 minutes away from this restaurant and driving home with one kid screaming that she’s soaking and freezing in 20 degree weather wasn’t really an option, so my spouse went to old navy and bought her pants and a shirt to change into. We had three different people come to our table to take our order, bring us our food and bring us our bill after that - the waitress that spilled the drink didn’t come back. They covered the cost of my daughter’s one sushi roll. They didn’t even write down my other daughter’s meal that we ordered, which was a bowl of ramen. By the time we were each done with our sushi rolls (took maybe 8 minutes), the ramen hadn’t come out and they brought us the bill. So one kid didn’t get to eat and I ended up having to cook dinner for her when we got home. It was a busy night, but it always is at this place. I honestly cannot imagine leaving my customers sitting in a sticky mess for over an hour. This place was on our rotation at least twice a month but we unfortunately won’t go back...

I went because It was recommended by many people. I was excited. We ordered take out off there take out order form. told the price, price looked fine. We came back, to pay and pick up the food welhen it was ready.... the card was ran, then I noticed it.......10% hike in price on the bill. They tried to explain it was a mandatory tip for 1. not eating in the restaurant, 2. for the cost of the containers, 3. the cost to place the food in containers. So.... the dishwasher that did not need to collect or wash our dishes, nor the wait-staff that can go tend to other guests and no need to serve us drinks or tend to specific wants, or the seats available for other guests, or not needing to deliver food if that was an option.... That cost me? How much more care does it take a human to ladel a serving of food into a cup shape than it does to ladel it upon a flat surface. Note: this mandatory tip is not on the menu... not on the take out menu/order form, not discussed over the phone or mentioned when we said "take out". It was only discussed after I asked. Then he pointed at a message scrawled out in CHALK on the wall of the restruant directly opposite and behind where you face to pay. You would never see it if you didn't turn 180 degrees and put your back to the cashier/waiter. The sad part... the owner was the one that took our order. Its been a while, I never went back, and my story has been shared many times. Now it finally makes it here. I hope it has changed. The Tempura shrimp was excellent and there is so few places to get it. It is my absolute favorite food. I would rather buy an inferior frozen product from a supermarket then the fresh delight I had there. I didn't feel like a customer. I...
