Alright i am not sure where to start but let’s see. I am a straight forward reviewer so i might use some blunt words. I walked into the store after i noticed the ambiance. A little too much but attractive.
Food: so i tried strawberry chocolate cup there were three things that were wrong and unsatisfying.
A. The chocolate was very hard, like literally you can’t pick the strawberries with any fork in the world. I don’t think anyone uses the shell kinda chocolate for strawberry cup.
B. The chocolate was overpowering the taste of strawberry by this i mean it was too much chocolate and too sweet.
C. I got 2 rotten strawberries at the bottom of them cup.
Price: like what in the world is going on??
A crepe costing $20 and not worth it? Why is the chocolate too sweet? A cafe more expensive than Starbucks is usually supposed to serve better than Starbucks not worse. Plus if i am spending $40 for 2 things i need excellent service too but let’s talk about service further ahead. Spending too much on ambiance and making the menu expensive is a cheap trick for making the money back that was invested in the business. Not cool.
Service: i don’t know if it was the owner on the cash register but trust me it wasn’t a good experience talking to him. I will tell yall what exactly happened . I walked up to the register without the guy on the cash register greeting me, like not even a smile on the face. A smile is the bare minimum. He should atleast smile at the customer but no smile and no greeting, felt like i ordered his kidney covered with chocolate. No hi, how are you, thank you, bye, or enjoy. Just “ what do you want? Ok, to go or for here? Alright” that’s it. Kinda acting bossy which was absurd. If you’re the owner try not to stand on the cash counter please, maybe you’re a good person but not good for customer service where customers spend $40 bucks for 2 small things. Get a good looking sweet employee or you try to smile and greet next time.
Ambience/ atmosphere: honestly the ambience was good. That’s what attracted me into the store but it’s kinda misleading you know. You have exquisite ambience but dime store quality of food and service?? But there you go i rate 4 stars for ambience nicely done ambience.
Bonus: the dirty dishes were left right next to me on sitting roundabout in the middle of the store.
The only reason i am so detailed because i spent $40 here. $40 is nothing for me if i get good food and service i am not complaining about the money but about the money not being worth it. If its gareeb nawaz i dont even bother posting a review.
I could’ve rated 2 stars but there was nothing good and its against my rules of reviewing to give a star for...
Read moreI’ve visited this place three times (two saturdays mornings and one Friday at night) and honestly, I don’t understand how I kept giving it more chances. The place is trendy and nicely decorated, with a cozy atmosphere, but beyond the aesthetics, there’s a lot that needs serious improvement.
The bathrooms are in bad condition and definitely need attention. Another thing I found very off-putting is that there are cardboard boxes lying around the floor and items that should never be visible to customers sitting out in the middle of the shop. It takes away from the whole presentation.
In terms of food, everything is extremely sweet overwhelmingly so. I found the prices to be too high for what’s offered. The knafe crepe is honestly good, although very sweet, and the It’s Berrilicious drink is also nice. These are the only two things I would go back for, if anything.
Now, the worst part: the service. It’s chaotic. Staff are yelling at each other, running around, and constantly losing track of orders. Customer service is poor overall. The male employees tend to offer better service than the female employees, but even so, everything feels disorganized.
On my second visit, I asked (politely) if they were related to A Thousand Tales in Mount Prospect because the cakes in the display case aren’t just similar, they’re the exact same ones. It honestly looks like they buy them from there and just showcase them here. The girl at the counter responded rudely, raised her voice, and acted offended, which was completely unnecessary.
Today, on my third visit, I went with coworkers who wanted to try the place because it’s currently popular. The restaurant was packed, there were no clean tables, and the available ones had no chairs and were full of leftovers from the previous guests. We waited over 30 minutes for our desserts, and our drinks didn’t arrive until 45 minutes later only after I complained twice at the counter because they had forgotten them.
It’s a place with potential, but poorly managed. Overpriced, overly sweet, and with...
Read moreWe just went there for the first time tonight. I actually have every reason to give them 0 stars, but let me explain why I’m giving them 5 stars instead.
I ordered the chocolate kinder sushi rolls for my kids, and I asked the employee at the counter if it had any nuts because typically US made kinder surprise doesn’t have nuts in their chocolate. Regardless I always verify because my son has a nut allergy. The employee said the dish had no nuts, so I ordered it. My son took one bite of the sushi roll and had an immediate allergic reaction. I went back to the counter and asked them to check again about the nuts. They verified in the kitchen and came back and said that item has hazelnut and potentially Nutella in it.
Immediately my husband took my son to the car, and gave him meds (thankfully we carry everything with us).
After speaking with the Manager, Adham, I am choosing to give this establishment 5 stars. Firstly, Adham and his team took responsibility. He very quickly apologized for their mistake. After we talked a bit I told them that I just don’t want this to happen to someone else in the future who may have a more severe allergy or not have the correct meds on hand to prevent a more disastrous situation. He agreed to put up signage about all their nut items, and ensure their employees know which items contain allergens. He even texted me after to see how my son was doing.
Mistakes in life happen, how someone deals with them is what is important to me. And I feel like their response and their care showed me that they truly are trying to create a safe environment. I do wish them every success and I appreciate the candor and honesty they handled this with. A place like this deserves to thrive and continue their growth as they're just learning and...
