As a Pakistani, I truly feel bad for the owners of this restaurant. The amount of Pakis giving 1 star reviews because they donāt like the food, they expect more masala if anything, itās hilarious.
This is shawarma not korma, I donāt know what youāre expecting.
This shawarma was absolutely excellent Iām on a shawarma binge since Iām visiting Chicago, and Hello Shawarma takes the cake.
Outstanding service, excellent food, extremely clean environment, you folks are killing it.
But letās play a game, see how this location in paki city of Lombard has 3.9 stars, and the bridgeview location where itās a more arab facing city has 4.4.
I think thereās a direct correlation between those two observations. I actively watched my fellow Pakistanis eat at hello shawarma Lombard, and they leave a mess, or they complain in Urdu how the food has āno tasteā (you guys love using that one)
And then you bombard the google reviews. Iām tired of it, what do you expect from shawarma? Because guess what, you just donāt like shawarma. But the reality is, this is a damn good shawarma spot, just because you donāt like shawarma doesnāt mean you should leave a negative review. Because for us pakis that do enjoy shawarma youāre ruining it for the rest of us.
(My only remark is to put more garlic in the shawarma, Baba Saj, and Nashmi overload it,...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI seriosuly now HATE this place originally it never even compared to the bridgeview location, but now it's just absolutely sucks, my steak is overcooked, they never even get my sauce right (I've come here countless times) every time I come here the quality of the food just gets worse and worse and today I've honestly had it, and it does not deserve everhone coming here they ruin my day honestly when they don't even get my orders right or listen I always have to go back and fix it, and mind you this is a weekday and there's no customers. I used to enjoy coming here and I really hate it now I ask for pomegranate sauce no where even in my shawarma or on the side, I ask for garlic why give me tahini and I can clearly see they aren't even busy. And on top of that the service has also gotten worse every single time I have a bad experience with a different cashier, can you actually train your cashiers or something, or at least tell them to be POLITE?? I literally came in smiling and said hello to her and this lady is seriosuly just giving me a dirty look and I still stay kind and she wants me to go away as soon as possible, ( there is literally no line and zero rush) . I seriously just feel like throwing away...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreCame by Hello Shawarma in Lombard and got the chicken shawarma bowl. Gotta say, the food was really good. The chicken was flavorful, the rice was fluffy, and everything tasted fresh. I was ready to dig in like I hadnāt eaten in days.
Only thing is I was expecting a little more meat. I mean, I know portion sizes are shrinking everywhere these days (inflation, health trends, the universe testing my self-control... who knows), but I was kind of hoping for a little more protein to match my appetite. Good for my waistline, not so great for my inner foodie who was already planning round two. š
That said, everything else was spot on. The ingredients were high quality, and the flavors were balanced really well. My friend got the steak wrap and said it was legit. The place was clean, the vibe was chill, and the staff was friendly.
All in all, definitely worth checking out if youāre in the area and craving shawarma. Just donāt come expecting a meat mountain, unless maybe you ask for extra. Might do that next time.
Would I go back? 100%. Would I bring a snack just in...
