My SO and I make a point to come in whenever we're in the area. Usually we come in to grab the best lemon bars and the best tiramisu around, along with some other tasty things like the TV bars and cupcakes.
It's been a bit since we've been in, since before COVID-19 hit. We came in yesterday and grabbed a lemon bar, cupcake, raspberry cheesecake brownie, and a mocha something or other - no tiramisu this time, but no big deal. For a place that normally has the best lemon bars (and other things) we were supremely disappointed to dig into the worst lemon bar we've ever had... Watery, gritty, and just overall not what we've come to expect from Blackberry Bakery. The raspberry cheesecake brownie was the same. The raspberry was watery and gritty, and the brownie part was watery and not really like a cakey or even fudgey brownie. We almost suspect that items were prepared well in advance and frozen... But we can't know that for sure.
For a place that normally sells us such great things, what happened? I'm hoping this is a one-time fluke so I can return again and give the 5 stars they deserve for...
Read moreImpromptu drop in today at blackberry bakery to grab cupcakes for dessert. The lone gentleman was taking an extended phone call order and while I was a little bit frustrated, I had had their cupcakes before, and he was absolutely apologetic. I am so glad I waited. I bought a half dozen cupcakes- Reese's peanut butter cup, Oreo, tiramisu, lemon, raspberry mousse, and a traditional yellow cake with white chocolate frosting. There were three of us eating and we split all of them into thirds. We all agreed they were hands down the best cupcakes we have had. Each one of them had a center filling that was different from the frosting, which was the smoothest and appropriately but not overly sweet buttercream I have ever tasted. They were not tiny cupcakes but were ample for the price paid and I can't wait to go back. The crumb of the cake was moist and dense on every one of the cakes. I wish I had taken photos, they were exquisite....
Read moreI did not want to leave a review, but after reaching out on FB in August and never hearing back, I decided to leave an honest review. My fiancé purchased a cake from Blackberry for my birthday and he was EXTREMLY upset with how it came out. He showed the person over the counter a picture of a cake and they told him they could do the job. When he arrived, the cake was VERY small...not at all the height of the cake he had shown them. Granted the cake was pretty, but the tiny cake was $80! He is not the type to speak up BUT this cake was not worth $80. At that price, I would have rather he purchased a cake at Market Basket. Please do not tell customers you can execute 'designer style - multi layer' cakes if you can't do it - not only that, but I don't know how you can charge $80 for a basic, two-layer cake. Needless to say, he...
