Avila's Pizza Two — Restaurant in Long Beach

I call this place, old faithful.

I've been ordering from here for as long as l've had my own money and they've never let me down.

I've even met Mr. Avila himself. He's not above taking or even delivering orders. This is a true love of his, and that love shows.

Are they perfect? No. But I'm not perfect and my mom still loves me and it would take me moving out of their delivery zone to stop me from ordering from here... even then, l'd make the drive.

That said, the selling point here is definitely the pizza. It's in the name. You can't go wrong there. They also have some pretty tasty garlic breadsticks that I almost always get when I place an order.

Where they can use some improvement is their hot wings. They're hit or miss. Sometimes they're perfect, other times they're really fatty but that's pretty common in most pizza places so I'll let it slide. I'm here for the pizza. If I want chicken wings, l'll order from a dedicated wing place. But wings aside, their pizza is and will continue to be my go-to. They're on delivery apps but I'll continue to call in. It just...

When going inside, the half of the building with the dining area is fairly barren, and there is no public restroom - though that may not be their fault. The wings are a hint of better quality than microwaved Tyson wings, and them being drowned in sauce when I ordered the BBQ ones just made it seem more that way. I also found it a little inconvenient that there is a $1 fee to use a card. The bread sticks just tasted like bread, and were soggy, but still good bread. On the positive side: the pizza is decent, the ranch is good, and there was a generous amount of marinara to go with the bread sticks. I always order pizza from this place and lately they’ve been slipping. I had pizza delivered to my door tonight and they wait until they get here to tell me they’re only taking cash. The pizza was already inside my house and the guy on the phone tells me they have to take the pizza back (that’s nasty considering COVID is real). When I told him that was unprofessional and should have been stated to me over the phone and I also told him that I will be writing a review he said “THAT’S FINE! Do what you have to do!” Really sir?
