This is one of those places I always drive by when I’m in Long Beach but have never eaten at. We were looking for a place to have lunch and thought why not give it a try.

Upon entering, we were greeted really warmly by the woman at the front counter. She was very kind to my friend and I, sporting a big smile on her face and made us feel at home. She recommended me the Quesabirria plate which comes with three quesabirrias of good size, and a side of consomé.

It was pretty damn good. Quesabirrias are not something I get to eat very often but I was happy to have tried them here. I am already looking forward to coming back and trying something else on the menu as some of the other items looked delicious.

Even though the interior is not the biggest place, it still feels nice and homey. One thing I also enjoyed was the small basket of tortilla chips they gave us topped with some beans and two salsas to put in our food. A green...

Cantarito, how do I love thee, let me count the ways. For 5 years, this has been my favorite Mexican restaurant. Everything made in this little tiny building is delicious. The servers are always friendly and the orders are always 100% correct. I always get the fish burrito with a bunch of substitutions when I'm eating healthy and they always make it perfect. One time they messed up one tiny thing which was fine (no complaints, it was still great) and the next time we came in they remembered without me ever telling them, and gave us free chips to make up for it. Best service ever. When I'm not dieting, the nachos are out of this world. I am moving soon and it feels like there will be an empty spot in my heart with no cantarito to fill it. I'm going to eat there as much as possible before I do. Thanks for the years,...

Used to go here everyday. Had good food, great salsa, and even better prices. Got sick from a bad batch of salsa and they had to put in a cart to try to prevent future cross contamination, and right around that time they must have changed ownership, because there was a marked decrease in quality along with a noticeable hike in price. I took a break and thought things might improve, but after returning to give them another shot, I have seen no change. If courtesy were everything they would surely recieve 5 stars, but unfortunately I need more than that when factoring my mealtime choices. Might give them another shot sometime in the future, but it won't be...

Cantarito Cocina Mexicana is like a culinary hug from your favorite abuelita, with dishes that will make your taste buds do the salsa. They just renovate and the place is amazing, the ambience takes you to your favorite destination in Mexico. And let's not forget about the heart and soul of this place - the owner Jorge. Not only does he whip up some of the best ceviche and birria quesadilla tacos in town, but he's also the kind of guy you'd want to share a cold beer with. The beer is always cold, the conversation is always great, and the food is always on point. This spot is a true gem in the LBC - ¡Salud to Jorge and Cantarito!

Amazing Mexican food is very authentic as it should be. Friendly staff. I recommend this place 👌 My only constructive criticism is that the parking has been sort of converted unto an outdoor dining patio with tables and umbrellas, very nice actually, but the large trash bins are noticeable. I would recommend adding several large foliage trees on planters to cover the ugly trash bin area. Other than that, nice place overall. Thank you for the friendly service Señor.
