Simple fresh fried fish, shrimp and scallops. Tempura style, long thick, meaty pieces of fresh fried fish...Mmmmmm. Oh and if you order the popcorn shrimp don't be misled it's hardly small and over breaded but a nice medium size shrimp crispy and tasty. The uniquly prepared jumbo shrimp is split and flattened to form a delicious savory ring of decadence. Even the cocktail sauce is sweet and tangy. You'll get an authentic taste of Liverpool, England when dipping that fresh, crispy, meaty fish in creamy thick tartar sauce. They even have eggrolls which are a big crunchy flavorful piece of seasoned cabbage and chicken heaven. I suggest the combo deluxe, fish jumbo shrimp scallops and chips, not Dorritos Frito lay junkies but shoestring french fries. The prices are cheap, menu is simple even offers family size meals for the critters. This cozy place is a real family owned and operated neighborhood jewel. The owners are always welcoming and patient. Dine in or take out because you'll will pig out! I ate here three days in a row. It's cash only no delivery. So leave that plastic at home! Orders prepared quicky too. I love this place and passed it by for over twenty years, NOW CANT GET ENOUGH OF ENGLAND...
Read moreHi. I'm English living in Long Beach for nearly 20 years and I can honestly say I LOVE the fish here. It is on a par with traditional fish from f&c shops in UK just SO MUCH CHEAPER. 2 pieces and fries is ample to eat and costs around 7 bucks!!!!!! It's not the whole side fillet as in UK but it is real flaked cod not minced. The fries though are near stringfellow which obviously is not the traditional English Chips but do not let that stop you going. I recommend this place to everybody who I overhear talking about F&C's. Also try the deep fried mushrooms. 10 for 3ish bucks, bargin! I came across this place by accident on a wet Friday lunchtime not long after first moving here, UK tradition is walking home eating F&C in the rain with little wooden forks!!! It's same ownership as far as I'm aware for last 18 years and I still have to thank them every time I eat there. Delightful H&W team! I know they are not going to change anything (and to be fair why would they!) BUT jars of pickled onions, and fish cakes would just about make this the best in USA in my humble opinion. I work for BA at LAX so have been all over the world and stand by my comments absolutely about the quality...
Read moreMaybe I was expecting bit too much by reviews by other Google's. After reading Google's and helpers review it kind of brain wash me into thinking what I was gonna get was gourmet food instead of fish n chips. And it was just that fish n chips and chips aren't fish n chip's chips. I am not criticizing this place so Ill get to my point .Since LA and OC county (lived most of my life) are near ocean it wasn't too hard to find fish and chips place and didn't think much of it. But I cant really remember how long(let just say 10 years) ago when I once in a blue moon craving for fish n chips I could not find it anywhere near me .I remember last time I had was ordering it from Danny's and even them discontinued. From my old memories fish was cod and thick fried potatoes that no one ever finish eating they did all taste similar except tar tar sauce. And that's what I'm having right now and it really fill me up .(2 fish 1 jumbo shrimp) Of course fries are left over by more than half .I'm gonna save combo veggies (5 mushroom 5 zucchini fried) for later. Typical(not in bad ways by any means) traditional fish and chips selling at 20 years ago price that I wish I...
