I ate Lucille's about 10 years ago and did not have a good food experience so I never ate there again until recently.
I received 2 gift cards from a family member. Decided to give Lucille's a shot again and decided to get take out. Got the family feast brisket and ribs, family salad, and a bottle of hot spicy BBQ sauce. I ordered it at 4pm for pick up at 5:45pm. I arrived a little late around 5:55pm.
The service staff was friendly and attentive. Even double checked my order same saw that I was given the wrong BBQ sauce and replaced it with the correct one.
I arrived home and the first thing I opened was the ribs and brisket container. The food was warm at best. Ribs were okay. Didn't have much seasoning but had a good bark and smokiness to it. The brisket on the other hand was hands down terrible. Dry slabs of meat. No moisture at all. No smoke ring. Just grey meat through and through. That told that 3 of these reasons must have happened. They either held it for too long in a dry hot box with no moisture settings and did not time their BBQ correctly to be pulled out of the smoker so that there will be a fresh rotation of meats through out eat quarter of the day. They over cooked the meat and decided to still serve it. They reheated left over BBQ from the day before and did it in a way where it overcooked the meat.
The sides were good though and so was their family salad with my choice of tomato vinaigrette and Italian dressing. Biscuits were dry, very disappointing.
Overall, this take out experience confirmed my decision to never go to Lucille's again. I've had take out BBQ before that floored me how good it still was 30 minutes after leaving the shop.
I honestly thought Lucille's would have stepped up their game by now. The food is always the center of attention. Service is always dwarfed by food quality in my opinion and Lucille's did not deliver on that this...
Read moreI ordered the two-meat combo that included two sides with complimentary biscuits. The pros are: the biscuits taste homemade and delicious and so does the honey butter that comes with them. The braised greens were tasty as well. Now, the cons: I'm from the Southeast and know what makes for delicious-tasting barbecue. Howbeit, there are different approaches to barbecue such as types of sauces, rubs, etc., that make such dishes regionally unique. But, the food should still be something to boast about when one pays the high cost that Lucille Barbecue charges.
That said, I've had much better tasting barbecue from restaurants that charge a fraction of what Lucille charges. Onto the cons: The pulled pork was just plain ole' pulled pork with little to no seasoning or sauce on it. The baby back ribs were just ok but tasted better than the pulled pork. The macaroni and cheese had that fake, cheese-flavored sauce on it like many other restaurants use. Also, when I inquired about the most popular foods that customers purchase at the restaurant, female with a pony tail who seemed to be a manager basically pointed me to the menu to read-which I had already done-rather than discuss what she'd suggest off of the menu. She was shallow and brushed me off, sort of speak. I gave three stars for the biscuits, butter and greens. I really wanted to like this place but won't be returning. (Long...
Read moreFirst, I love Lucille's BBQ. But this location needs major improvements in customer service. I went on Sunday May 19th for dinner. A little wait, but that's ok especially for a Sunday. But the trouble started with the hostess Jacklin... very rude, major millenimi attitude, just not the correct person you would want to first greeting your customers. I told her 3 people, my name. She wanted my phone number, full name including my last name. Ok I really don't see why, but ok, 15 minutes passed the time she gave me, I went up and asked how much longer? She rolled her eyes, then the other hostess said she would take me now but only had a table for 2 not 3? what? Millennial jacklin had put down only 2 when I said 3.... everything else went down hill from there.... so many things... but the food was good, service needs major changes in the improvement department. Why? And for what purpose do they need my full name and phone number to put me on a waiting list???? Truly unbelievable..... next time I will not give out my personal information to anyone.... truly no need for them to have my full name and ...
