I’m a huge Shake Shack lover, so I occasionally make the 40 minute drive up to this location from Orange County because there aren’t any closer locations. It has been worth it every single time! This location is located in the outdoor 2nd + PCH mall. Because the area can get busy and parking can be tricky, I opt for online ordering + curbside pickup. I usually put my order in the app about 15-20 minutes before I arrive, and it has always been hot + ready on time. When you arrive to the curbside area, just hit the “I’m here” button in the app, and the food will be brought out to you in a minute! All of the workers are extremely kind and my orders have always been correct, which is impressive because I order for 4 people who all have custom order alterations. Not sure what to order? I recommend a regular Shackburger, an order of fries, and a black + white shake (tastes like hot fudge)! Trust me—you won’t regret it. They use potato buns, which are slightly more dense and 1000x better than regular burger buns in my opinion! Love this location! I just wish there was one closer to me in south OC...maybe one day! I would pick Shake Shack over In-N-Out any day.

Went to Shake Shack tonight. Got the Shake Burger and French Fries. Friendly staff, extremely easy to order at the machine, and very cool that they’ll text you when your food is ready. Cons right off the bat: this place is wayyy too expensive for the quality and amount of food you get here. It really is only a place you go to once if you’re single, and maybe only for date nights if you’re not. Would not recommend for casual dining if you’re operating on a budget. The prices they charge here for a burger aren’t bad until you realize there are no combos and you’re paying premium for everything from the fries to the drinks. And no, “quality” is not an excuse to charge for this much when In N Out across the street charges about half as much per burger for “more” (essence, that is). Is the cheeseburger bad? No. The cheese sauce is interesting but not a deal breaker, the buns remind me of Hawaiian sweet rolls and have a nice balance with the saltiness of the beef patty. The vegetable toppings taste fresh. It’s tasty. But even McDonald’s has its “tasty” moments, as does Carl’s Jr, Burger King, Del Taco (I know, it doesn’t make sense, but it does, trust me), Wendy’s, and even Five Guys. The difference is you’re getting a burger here and being charged like it’s chianina filet mignon. It’s not. As I said, come here once, then only for dates.

Perched on a cliff overlooking Crystal Cove along Hwy 1 Pacific Coast Highway is this little Burger Shack, Shake Shack (not the franchise from the east coast). Here you’ll find tasty California style burgers (not dissimilar from In n’out), sandwiches, fries, and custom ice cream shakes. All served up with a pretty spectacular view of the cove and the Pacific Ocean. The parking lot is tiny and the line to park can back up along PCH on a good day. My suggestion would be to incorporate a lunch or sunset dinner here into a day at crystal cove once you’ve paid to be in the state park after a walk on the trails or the beach. There is a stair way that comes up to shake shack from the crystal cove cottage/beachcomber area.

This is for curbside review. The app details about curbside pick up was very helpful on the order confirmation screen. Enter through Seaport Way and it takes you right to the curbside spot for pick up. Staff walks up and asks for your name then less than 2 mins, comes out with my order on a tray so it is completely contactless. They extend the tray to the car window and I grab the packaged bag. The food was made exactly as requested. The burgers came in the white wax sleeve and they were put inside burger boxes. I'm glad as I saw complaints about greasy burgers at the bottom of to-go bags. The burger boxes are way better! Staff wore masks and gloves.
