Original Tommy's — Restaurant in Long Beach

A trip to the world-famous Tommy Burger was an experience worth remembering, though it didn't quite top the list of my favorite dining spots. The chili, however, did manage to leave a positive mark. Its flavor was decent, offering a satisfying blend of spices and a hearty texture that complemented the meal.

The standout feature was undoubtedly the burger itself. Juicy and succulent, it surpassed expectations, avoiding the all-too-common pitfall of being dry. Each bite was a testament to the mastery of their grilling technique, resulting in a burger that was both flavorful and satisfying.

Regrettably, the chilidog was a bit of a letdown. Overcooked and lacking in any distinctive elements, it failed to make a lasting impression. It was a stark contrast to the burger and chili, leaving a taste of disappointment in its wake.

This is not the original location, but it Is the exact same recipe and foods as it's original local!!! Utterly delicious!!! I have been eating Original Tommy's for over 50(yes!!! Five Ooooh!!!) Years and Loving every bite of their Original chili recipe on everything they sell and when (roughly 25-30yrs ago) they would ship their chili inside the United States, I could enjoy Original Tommy's chili at home in Santa Clara, CA a meer 5hr 45min drive back to Beverly Blvd in Los Angeles 24hr home of Original Tommy's. This location is in my hometown of Long Beach, not open 24hrs, but the same Utterly Scrumptious chili and same menu as the Original original!!! And great service too!!! Needless to say I currently have Original Tommy's chili in my refrigerator and one in the freezer. Same delicious chili, but different as it is not on the Original Tommy's chili cheese burger that they make fresh in front of you in the 'shake'...

If you like your burgers or fries extra greasy and with a bit of a kick, the chili from Original Tommy's is an ideal add-on.

This Long Beach location has been around for years, and is still worth a trip when nothing else will satisfy. The menu is straightforward. A few burger variations, thick cut fries with or without the thick, all-permeating chili, soft drinks. They also have a breakfast sandwich and burrito, and the chili works there too. There's outside seating and a drive-thru. Anaheim's a busy road and this location is wedged between a strip mall (Subway, 7-eleven, Little Caesars) and a gas station, so it can be tricky to get in and out of. Breakfast doesn't start until around 9am, so it's not for early commuters, but I have many fond memories of late-night Tommy's.
