Caputo Italian Pastry Shoppe — Restaurant in Long Branch

I have lived next to caputos my whole life and have purchased baked goods from here more times than I could count. The staff is always friendly but the product quality has gone way way down, the bread is good but anything else seems to always fall short, the jelly cookies have no jelly and what is there has no flavor (if you tasted this blind folded you wouldn’t be able to guess they had jelly in a million years) the cookies lack flavor and the texture seems to be getting lighter and drier to the point that it feels they are trying to use air as a filler. The last couple years I have gotten cookie and cake that taste stale or like the display case if that makes sense… I went today and got home to try the cookies, they have no flavor and no jelly it was seriously disappointing to the point that I decided I cannot justify spending (wasting) my money here. They have proved time and time again that the quality is not going to improve and no matter how much nostalgia tricked me into purchasing more times then I should have, it just isn’t...

Customer for 22 years at least. I have special orders always done perfectly. In all this time I had one mistake . That mistake was taken so seriously and resolved within minutes. I was ok with it to begin with ..it just goes to show you how the staff during all seasons ..full time and part time employees really care about your happiness. Great for all events or a quick turnover and coffee. They have great coffee flavors a small l selection however its always hot and the brand is decent .I just read a comment about the owner Joe. Take that with a grain of salt . I met the owner one day and he went out of his way to make my daughters team a beautiful cake rushed order. Taste bud perfection in all items. Their canoli are 2dye4 scrumptious. Dream melt Baklava. Sunday post church & 1st Friday buns are the thing of childhood memories with family, friends, and classmates at the Academy that is no more on Chelsea Ave...

P.S.: Been OTR Trucker many years & in all 48 states & a good bit of Canada; and, can say with certainty, that they set the bar sooo high that no other Italian Bakery ANYwhere else has beat them. Siriusly doubt anyone ever will.
