My friends and I (a group of 5) decided to have lunch here during Strawberry Fest after hearing great things—but sadly, it was a huge letdown from start to finish. They sat us quickly but definitely shouldn’t have taken so many tables at the same time based on our situation. We ended up waiting over an hour for food that was, at best, mediocre and also expensive for a basic portion. What made it worse was watching other tables—who arrived well after us—get served, eat, and leave before we even got our meals.
When we asked about our food after waiting for so long, our server brushed it off with a lighthearted “I’m so sorry!!!” like it was a joke. It wasn’t. We were hungry, annoyed, and still left waiting another 10 minutes after that. To add to the frustration, a simple request for a side of ranch resulted in a $0.75 charge.
When we asked to split the check, we were told “no” because it was busy—something that apparently needed to be requested earlier. Fine, we were prepared to just pay with one card. But then she disappeared again, and even after bringing the bill, didn’t return for several more minutes despite us clearly being ready.
If we had known the experience would be this disappointing and disorganized, we never would have come. It felt like a complete waste of time and money. I wish we could’ve been refunded for spending...
Read moreGot sat on a very uncomfortable picnic table and shortly after 2 bench tables opened up an after multiple request server wouldn’t move into one. Horrible customer service! It actually felt we were targeted for being Hispanic by our server Mellisa. Nice!

We were never trying to be difficult. My wife politely asked the hostess if we could be reseated, but she was told no—because our food order had already been placed. Once most of our food arrived, we noticed two open tables nearby (as shown in the attached photo) and asked our waitress if we could move. She suggested we speak with the hostess again, but we explained that we had already tried and been denied. (we never declined)
What’s frustrating is that we weren’t asking for much—just to move to a more comfortable spot. We were seated at a picnic table, which was uncomfortable for my in-laws, who are 83 and 89 years old. We came to enjoy a nice outdoor meal with family, including my brother-in-law visiting from Arizona, and instead felt that our comfort and experience were dismissed.
It’s disappointing that the staff showed little flexibility or concern for customer service. Sometimes, small accommodations can make a big difference, especially for elderly guests. We...
Read moreIt is such very pretty & rustic type place to stop in for drinks, sandwiches & appetizers. A gem in Long Grove. The food is very good!! We stopped in yesterday, Wednesday at 2:30pm for lunch. The place was empty during this weekday on a wintery day. So we ate upstairs which was so nice. I have to say the waitress was friendly but never came back. Took our order, came back to serve us meals with our drinks. "We were the only ones upstairs and The bar was not busy at all. (took a very long time to get our meals.) Excellent food and the portions are very generous. I had fried shrimp & my brother had salmon. Wine was great. But - please ask how everything is, do you need another drink, etc. Even if someone is still eating. It was not acceptable. We might want another drink or our dessert afterwards, etc. We did get coffee and the brown bag apple pie for dessert, Highly recommend this. Delicious. The coffee was not good, did not taste fresh or was very hot. "No hurry at all but the total time we were there well over 2 hrs!" But overal, I do just love this place. Been coming to Long Grove for...
