Big Daddy Bagels — Restaurant in Longmont

Update: Our first visit was horrible (see below), but we went back just for bagels with cream cheese and those were much better. We'll avoid bagel sandwiches from here and stick to basic bagel and cream cheese, because those were great!

We wanted to love this and thought we would, but we're Slsuper disappointed in our bagel sandwiches. We ordered online and they took twice as long as I'd been told. Had they been what we ordered OR tasted good, that might have been ok. We got three sandwiches. We paid the extra $0.97 to get spinach added to each one and there were between 4 and 8 spinach leaves on each sandwich. One of the sandwiches was supposed to have sausage and it didn't. The ingredients that were there had almost no flavor. The jalapeno bagel was the only exception, which had some nice spice, but everything else was...

If your sandwich comes with cheese, please advertise that on the menu so people know to ask for it without. I got a bacon and egg sandwich (I ordered only bacon and egg) and I got home and the sandwich had cheese on it. At no point did they ask what kind of cheese I wanted like they did with my husbands sandwich (that had cheese listed on the menu), and I never asked for cheese so no idea why it was on my sandwich. I took a bite and immediately realized there was cheese, I had to throw the whole thing away because the cheese was impossible to get off the bagel once it was melted on and I’m allergic so that small bite alone is going to cause me problems. Pretty disappointing, food allergies aren’t a joke and this is why I don’t order out much anymore… people...

For starters, I like bagels, don’t LOVE bagels. A friend told me that Big Daddy was their preferred bagel place in Longmont. Considering they live on the very north side of town and that they make the drive to Prospect (very south side of town), I was curious. I gave it a try today and was so pleased. I had the Italiano, lightly toasted, with scallion cream cheese and it was delicious. I own a restaurant, so my foodie opinion is legitimate ;) The bagel itself was, for me, perfect. It wasn’t too chewy, crunchy, or dense. The flavor was great, not too salty or bland. The cream cheese was very fluffy and spreadable with fresh scallions. I was so impressed.
