Date night at Carciofi! I had the rare opportunity to take my beautiful Bride of almost 30 years on a real date. She loves Italian, and we both prefer non-chain restaurants, so off to Prospect we went. We were greeted by Khai and sat in a cozy corner for two. Great start for a date. He told us he was our bartender and waiter. I ordered an old fashioned and a water with lemon. My Bride was tired from travel and just got water. We started with "Babette's sourdough crunch" and house made balsamic. It came out warm, the center was soft and the crust was crunchy, perfect for dipping it in the balsamic. For the main course we split a handmade "build your own" pasta. We chose the fettuccini with Cajun alfredo sauce topped with grilled chicken. The chicken was cooked well, tender and moist. The heat on the Cajun was adjustable. My Bride chose medium. I asked for a little more heat in the side. The medium was more than spicy for her. I thought it was good too, but ended adding more heat to mine. The pasta was tender and springy and almost melted in our mouth. A slightly low and outside pitch would have been the old fashioned. It started flavorful and balanced, but the heavy use of machine ice watered it down too quickly. Not a deal-breaker, but purists may want to skip it. We absolutely will be back!

My husband and I came here for dinner to celebrate our anniversary. We loved everything about this restaurant. We had the Smoked Salmon Bites as our antipasti. These small bites of Cucumber and Salmon were so delicious and light, it was a great way to start the meal. We split the Caprese Salad which was amazing. A simple dish of sliced Mozzarella, Tomato, and Basil with Olive Oil and Balsamic Vinegar. It was the best Caprese I ever had. My husband had the Squid Ink pasta and I had the Spaghetti alle vongole (Spaghetti with clams), both dishes were phenomenal. We will definitely be returning here soon.

Great meal at Carciofi in Prospect last night. Great cocktails, all pasta made in house, friendly and prompt service. Best Cacio e Pepe I've had in quite a while and my wife really enjoyed her Aglio e Olio Artichoke Pasta. We had Honey Goat Cheese Schmear on French Bread and Smoked Salmon Bites to start. Both delicious. Tiramisu was light and fluffy! We enjoyed a nice bottle of Chianti Classico but would be nice to have another 10 items from Italy on the list. Cute spot; will be back!

We were so looking forward to this evening, our first visit, to celebrate our wedding anniversary. Unfortunately the waiter we had was simply awful & downright rude.

The place was not busy yet he was oddly invisible; never checked in on us after our food arrived. I had an issue of concern with my pasta & waited for the waiter to finally be visible so that I could flag him down.

I quietly & discretely shared my concerns & he was not only immediately defensive, he was also insulting as well & condescending.

It was a simple misunderstanding, and yet he handled it most unprofessionally; enough so that we left the restaurant immediately, left my cold uneaten meal & our drinks on the table, he completely wrecked the mood.

It honestly wrecked our anniversary night which only comes around once a year & that we were looking forward to immensely.

And sadly it could have taken a completely different turn for the better if the waiter knew enough about basic etiquette and simply asked “how can I make this right?” with sincerity & kindness, instead of copping an attitude & being so unprofessional.

I tried to resolve this at the restaurant on site but this waiter was just so rude it made my husband and I most uncomfortable. For a bill that came to over $100 (which is a lot to us) I went home hungry & saddened by the entire experience.

Never again will we dine here, as there are too many restaurants at this level ($$$) that train their staff properly and who get it right.

I did email the restaurant off their website form & am eager to see their response. I do not believe that a private email is enough, and sharing my personal experience here might actually be helpful to other folks out there wanting a nice romantic special meal somewhere, to keep in mind that ours was ruined by one single waiter assigned to our table. (The other waiter at nearby tables was absolutely fabulously warm & friendly & professional).

It’s a crapshoot when dining out and we got the server who honestly didn’t give a hoot about making our evening or meal special, or righting his wrong, and as a result, he ruined it.

A huge thumbs down from us. We hope others find this review helpful. Give the place a try & see what you get, hopefully you’ll get the good server! It would have been an entirely different...

Contaminated food!

Love this place. The food is great except today. The service is great until a health policy is violated.

I ordered gluten-free pasta with the honey salmon. 1/2way through my meal I found a "foreign object" that had I swallowed intead of pulling it out of my mouth, it would have likely punctured my gastrointestinal tract if not created a choking hazard. The only reason I noticed was the reaction to my palate expander.

The server (very sweet) apologized immediately and brought it to management. He came back and said the plate was comped. I then asked, "Does that mean I need to eat the rest of the dish, or can it be remade? Becuase I have no idea what else might be in it."

He says, "Of course" he can remake it. He then asked if I wanted it for here or to go. I said to stay (as service had been to expectation).

After we got the bill, I noticed I was still charged, so naturally, I brought it to the servers attention.

He says "it's out of my hands" referring to the fact that management (and he said "the owner") decided that because i had it remade i needed to pay for it.

Now here is the problem (as I who has co-owned 4 restaurants, and still own 6 businesses is concerned), the server should have informed me BEFORE cooking the food that it was to be charged, thereby changing the answer from "yes it can be remade" to "sorry, no it can't" based on my original questioning, that since they were comping the meal "Does that mean I need to eat the rest of the dish, or can it be remade?"

I had to explain what normal policy is when a "foreign object" is found that it is on the restaurant to not force a patron to eat the rest of the contaminated food or go without a full meal, that the dish is remade complimentary.

So although I will be likely to return (assuming this post doesn't get me banned), I would strongly suggest a change in policy, or for patrons to be aware enough to ask clarifying questions regarding the service and remedy of mistakes.

Though this is unfortunate, I will say that I am still 95% pleased with the place, but wary of preparation and accountability. I am also feeling that the reason I was charged (although I really hope for God sakes not) that they felt I put it there (because it "has never...

Carciofi in Longmont sets a new standard for Italian cuisine in the area, offering some of the best homemade pasta I've ever tasted. With entrées priced between $15-20, their pasta dishes deliver incredible value. The fresh, homemade pasta was an unexpected delight, surpassing the typical culinary standards found in Longmont. The service at Carciofi adds to the experience, striking a perfect balance between professionalism and a friendly, relaxed atmosphere. The staff are both talented and approachable, enhancing the overall dining experience with their attentive and personable service.

However, Carciofi's beverage program leaves much to be desired. The cocktail menu is overpriced and lacks transparency, with no pricing listed for mixed drinks. My Negroni was a disappointment - served in a small glass packed with ice, it quickly became diluted and finished in just a few sips. The Aperol Spritz, advertised as made with Champagne, tasted more like it was made with Prosecco or Cava, falling short of expectations. The wine list is similarly uninspiring, featuring selections from a single distributor with prices that don't reflect the quality. For a restaurant boasting such spectacular pasta, the absence of classic Italian wines is a significant oversight. With summer in full swing, I was looking for a classic dry and crisp rosé, but the only thing offered was a semi-sweet, slightly effervescent Vihno Verde. The beer selection also fails to excite. Carciofi could greatly benefit from curating a more thoughtful and diverse beverage program to complement their exceptional cuisine.

I am excited to come back and see...
