I've lived in Longmont for over 10 years. In that time, I'd visited this location only twice, and had not returned since it was re-opened a few years ago. Curious to see if anything had changed since the re-opening, I visited this Longmont IHOP once more yesterday morning. The reason I never frequently visited is that the wait times were always terrible, and when the food was served it was cool as if it had been sitting out for an extended period of time before being brought to the table. The staff at IHOP was always friendly, but the wait and the food was always disappointing. Once the wait didn't matter because I was just drunkenly ordering pancakes and waiting for a friend to come pick me up, but the point is if I was in a hurry it still would've been a serious inconvenience. On this third visit I decided to use a digital stopwatch to see how long each step of the process took, hitting the "Lap" button to track each part. I never thought I'd consider treating myself to some food a "process" but the truth rings clearly at this IHOP.
Lap 1: Waiting to get on the wait list Time: 2 min 46 sec There was one person in front of me waiting to get a to-go order and most of the wait was wating for someone to serve her.
Lap 2: Waiting to be seated Time: 3 min 52 sec This is roughly the length of an average YouTube video, and I hardly noticed. My single-person table was easy to acquire compared to most of the families sitting around me, so this was a breeze.
Lap 3: Waiting to be served Time: 8 min 52 sec This was unusual. At most places, within a few minutes, someone will at least come to tell you what the wait is all about. Nobody even acknowledged me. I sat quietly waiting. Finally the hostess herself, not the waitress, came to take my drink order. By that time I had already decided what food to order, but she was pressed for time so I let it play. As a side note, another 4 minutes passed before the coffee arrived.
Lap 4: Waiting to REALLY be served Time: 13 min 31 sec After this, I walked out. At about 6 minutes into this lap, the waitress did stop by to say she would be with me in a few minutes. I purposefully did not drink the coffee because if I did feel like cutting my losses I didn't want to be a thief. When the waitress finally came to take my order I explained I had been waiting for almost twenty minutes and had decided to leave. She was polite and apologized. I left her a couple bucks for her trouble at least. I'm not cruel.
At any rate, they didn't seem to be particularly busy so I'm not sure what exactly took so long. Again, I think local joints Aunt Alice's, Janie's, and Goodfellas are the superior breakfast joints in town. Save your money or go there instead of visiting IHOP, unles you don't have anything else to do with your day. I don't believe it's worth...
Read moreI recently had an incredibly disappointing experience at IHOP, one that I wouldn't wish on anyone. From the moment I walked in, it was clear that cleanliness was not a priority. The floors were sticky, the tables were covered in crumbs, and the general state of the restaurant was downright grimy. There was a dead spider in the booth we were sat at and right in the entrance there was an open ceiling panel with wires hanging down from it. I was surprised that a chain known for its family-friendly atmosphere would allow such a filthy environment to persist.
But the poor cleanliness wasn't the only issue. The service was abysmal. It took ages for a server to acknowledge our presence, despite the restaurant being barely full. When we were finally served, the staff seemed uninterested and inattentive, as if they couldn't care less about the customers. The server came to our table, barely spoke English and asked if we already had a server, to which we responded no. We actually left before ordering food , or at least tried . We said that the drinks would be all we were getting and the waitress said okay and walked away . She didn’t come out for over 20 minutes . We decided to start putting the baby in the car and as I was coming back to find someone to pay , the waitress came outside running after us. I told her that I was going to pay and that my party was irritated and wanted to leave because there was no service . She kept asking why we were leaving and wouldn’t listen to us when we told her our reasons . I said I wanted to pay for our drinks and leave. she insisted on getting a manager . We walked inside with her to find a manager which never appeared. The server stormed to the kitchen while I waited at the counter for over 5 minutes, expecting to be able to voice my frustrations to a manger. The server came back with a huge attitude and grabbed my card out of my hand and stormed back to the kitchen. When she came back with the receipt, she slammed it on the counter in front of me and gave me a dirty look, staring as I signed the receipt. We were charged 13 dollars for 3 adult drinks that we barely touched, and one of those drinks was a kids cup.
Overall, the experience was so bad that it overshadowed any positives the food might have had. I left feeling disappointed, disgusted, and certain that I won’t be returning. This IHOP needs to seriously reconsider its standards for cleanliness and customer service if it wants to keep its...
Read moreFood was amazing, but service was just awful. We had a waitress (Jaqueline) who we asked if there was a way to order something off the menu (a place i’ve ordered for years after it got taken off the menu) and she said she didn’t know since she was new to she went to ask the manager (understandable i appreciate her asking instead of guessing). Well she came back and just said (i don’t think it’s on the menu) we said we know that but can it still be ordered? she just stared at us with a blank face and said “idk look” and shows us her computer screen?? What are we supposed to know about their computer? Off to a bad start, we got our food 20 mins later by other waitresses and we didn’t see our waitress again for another 30 minutes. She didn’t ask how our food was, she didn’t ask for refills, she just kept walking past us the entire time. She comes quickly to our table, and slams the receipt on the table and says “here’s your receipt”. We pay, and when she comes back 10 MINUTES later, we realized she charged out the wrong receipt, immediately i didn’t want her touching my card again so I called for a manager at the host stand, She (waitress) sees us visibly upset and says “what’s wrong” in the rudest manner, i said “you charged us the wrong bill” and she says “ok” and walks away. Brings me the right bill and asks for my card again, didn’t want her touching my card again so I speak w the manager and she’s also very off putting. Food was great, 5 stars the the chefs, but everyone else is rude and and don’t know what they’re doing - coming from a...
