Applebee's Grill + Bar — Restaurant in Longview

We had a server named Aamarah B, she made it clear to us that it was only her second day on the job. We were prepared to handle a few mistakes, especially since we’d also worked in the restaurant business before, but unfortunately the service quality fell far below “being new.” She would make snide comments throughout the night. One instance when the table before us didn’t leave a tip for her, she came to us immediately after saying “I hate people like that.” (Which while understandably, her service was deplorable, we always tried to rip at least 20%). Another instance is when she was carrying in some drinks and spilled one all over my foot and phone, and only responded with “great, all over my finger.” Not giving a single regard to the mess she had made every where else and also only handling over now half of a drink. She violated several alcohol serving laws, such as how much can be in front of a person at a time. This lack of knowledge also appeared when we tried to order a drink and spent twenty minutes waiting on it just to be told it couldn’t be ordered. She then disappeared for around 20 minutes, occasionally spotted chatting with the other servers and host around the restaurant but never around her section. She didn’t refill our waters a single time. Everyone else in the restaurant did her job for her, such as bringing us our drinks and our food. Once we were finally tried of sitting and hoping she would come by we attempted to get her attention. Once she came over her only response to behind done for the majority of the meal was “saw your guys staring at me from all the way over here.” She then proceeded to take another 20 minutes to bring out to go boxes. Once the tickets finally came, everything was wrong. We didn’t mind though and proceeded to get one of our own pens to try and show what went on who’s ticket. (How my friend did it at her serving job) When she came back she looked horrified and when I offered to show her the very simple concept of labeling the tickets 1, 2 and 3. However she quickly backed away interrupting me with “no no we’ll just figure it out.” When she came back with the corrected tickets, they were still incorrect so I don’t think they were quite able to “figure it out.” We didn’t bother trying to fix it again and just payed and left. Leaving 1 Star. Food was excellent so my gratitude goes to the kitchen staff. Atmosphere and service was horrible. Stay clear of Waiter Wes. This guy is must own the establishment or something. Me and my wife whom are both middle aged adults go to have a nice comfortable dinner with drinks and it was a horrible experience because of Wes. Honestly I don't see how this guy gets any tips.(keep in mind I have been there hundreds of times over the years.) It started out by us ordering 2 appetizers to which we then ordered a 2 for 35 that comes with a appetizer but instead of bringing us out a new one, we just wanted to fill in one for what we previous ordered which no one has ever had a issue doing. Mr. Wes said it wasn't allowed a we must pick a whole new appetizer to which we did. Next it came time for us to order drinks and this is where the irritation really set in. After finishing my first Dollarita $1 I asked for a second and Wes told me I had to wait 10-15 mins before ordering again. I have never heard of that in my life especially on a drink that costs a dollar. Meanwhile I'm steadily seeing people at the bar getting drink after drink so this must be a "Wes" thing. Also he told me not to drink it too fast as if me a grown man needs to be told how to drink my cocktail. My wife proceeds to ask for a drink and got told that he was too busy at the moment and saying the words "too busy" costed you your tip Buddy. Maybe this waiter needs his manager to tell him to just take the orders and for him to stop having a opinion. Never in my life at any restaurant have I been told by any waiter/waitress on when I can order another drink especially after having just one 4 Oz drink. It's odd, considering he didn't treat other tables as such and believe me, I watched. My wife and I were just trying to have a nice quiet relaxing dinner too. When we first got there it started off rocky! Empty restaurant no staff waited 32 minutes to sit 2 of us. Bathrooms were not clean (men’s) but usable. The male waiter was complaining out in the open for customers to hear. I thought oh boy here we go another bad review why do I do these.

Then we got seated and here comes Jasmine to save the freaking day! She was outstanding her recommendations were spot on!! Even though she was being worked into the ground she kept a smile!! Our drinks stayed full and our food was quick and accurate! I can not wait express enough Jasmine is the only reason this review got a 4 star and not a 3.1!!! She is the type of server you want when you go out to eat!

We had some Asian bbq wings great sauce! (Thanks Jasmine!) the wing itself needed more meat but over all 7.1/10

We got 2 burgers one plain and one with secret sauce Burger with jalapeño special sauce 8.1/10 with out 7.1/10

Fries pretty good how a fry should be made simple and seasoned 8/10

Now the triple choco dessert is where we get wild! Jasmine recommended it and it was the Bomb!!!! Enough for 2 to share and it tasted amazing 9.1/10

Normally I would be harsh on something’s but the manager was busy doing her job and many others and she was excellent so we will let the bathroom slide and the wait. But thought it was odd all the football games were playing on the side of the restaurant that wasn’t being used true to short staff issues
