I visited here on Saturday Sept. 3 2022; it was my first time. My first time could've been better had the lady (who does the cooking herself) would've suggested some menu items. Anyway, I ended up choosing the pork over vermicelli as recommended by many in the ALL THINGS Longview group on Facebook. (Without them I don't know what I would've chosen) The pork was flavorful and the cucumbers or zucchini (I have no idea exactly) with a hint of mint or something along with this sweet tasting oil sauce was really good. I enjoyed the dish. I also had the pork/shrimp spring rolls with peanut sauce that I had before, and they were delicious. Here's my take on the food which I missed; I was wondering why I didn't hear or smell the food cooking like in Thai/ Asian restaurants; I'm wondering if the pork had been previously cooked and microwaved; was this only on Saturdays or daily? I would have loved to smell fresh food cooking in the air. There was no one there when I walked in, and she had a to go order waiting to be picked up. I had read reviews and was told that she was mean, but I would say she was nice to me, but could've at least took time to go over some dishes etc. She did act like she didn't care if she had customers or not; she went in the back like I wasn't there and I called her when ready. She told me she was not taking cards it was cash only and I said fine. She smiled and said sit down while I cook for you. ( I didn't smell food) She was closing early at 3p; a couple who were regulars came in and told me things to try in the future like beef or chicken lemongrass over noodles, and crepes. Others started pulling in. She called me to pay, and this is why I gave 4 stars; she first said 10 something (my 2 spring rolls were $3 and my plate was $7); she said no $12 and then 12.99; I said which is it and she said 12.99. Okay I know what taxes are, I didn't use a card so there was no fee so why that much after first saying saying $10. 98? She lost me there. Anyway I'd love to try trying on a weekday to see if food actually gets cooked. I'll try the recommended coffee next time. So that's my review for my first Vietnamese experience. I hope this helps. I put a little Sarachi sauce and Hoisan sauce on my food and it...
Read moreI came in here for the first time and I don't think I will ever come back.
I came around lunchtime to try some warm Pho on a cold day, and I was greeted by a 76-degree room temperature that made it oddly uncomfortable to dine in. However, I stuck it out since I saw an elderly lady running the restaurant by herself.
I ordered the combination Pho, and it took a normal amount of time to come out. HOWEVER, this is where things just go downhill.
The Pho comes out with a small plate of fixings to go along, and I can already tell that the fixings are quite old. it is an average sized bowl, but the meat to noodle ratio was VERY lacking. I then had to get up and go around to other tables to get certain dressings and fixings; this wasn't bad but it's just another thing that added onto my already bad experience.
I then got up and asked the lady if she had any chopsticks, she then replied in the smuggest and annoyed tone saying that there were NONE. In my mind, I was thinking what type of establishment that sells noodles not have chopsticks?
The only reason why I'm not giving this place a 1-star review is because of how cheap the Pho was. However, I cannot agree that I got the experience that I paid for.
I don't if I got unlucky and came in on a bad day, but my experience was so bad that I will not be going back for a...
Read moreWent in today to try it out. The place itself is on the run down side but sometimes that's where the best food comes from so we decided to still give it a try. There was only one other person eating in the store and the lady was just leaning on the counter seemingly annoyed when we came in. We sat down at a table with dirty menus and asked for waters to drink. Our waters were murky with dead flies and black spots floating, we did not drink them. We asked for spring rolls, they were just not good. We decided to leave after we heard our food being microwaved. The lady yelled at us after we got her attention to try and pay for the spring rolls and bought a soda as well so we could pay with card. We're not upset with the lady, we're sure she's doing the best she can but the food and service just wasn't what we were hoping. The prices are cheap so if you're...
