Hot Dog Express — Restaurant in Longview

Freaking love this place! I think the old decor of the restaurant adds to the experience! Not the oct contemporary or technically high-tech place, but its perfect for an old-fashioned hot dog. They also only accept cash, $20s and below. Again, i think it adds to the uniqueness! As far as the food, my favorites are the chicago, western, and the polish kraut( yes, they serve polish links!!) The dogs are always consistent, I know exactly what I'm getting each time I order(no surprises). Dogs are dressed to order, so you don't have to worry about "soggy" food. All I want is hot dogs, so i can't really speak on their sandwiches or fries. Sweet tea is great as well! The same people are there each time I order, so you know they know what they r doing and they like it. Oh yea, and the same person is always at the drive-thru window and greats me with a great smile! If you want a true and great tasting dog done by people done right and not a "chain" recipe, you know where to go! P.S.- Their dessert is...

Just meh.

I love hot dogs and finally got a chance to swing by to try out this local legend.

There were two cars ahead of me, so I figured it would be quick (heck, it's just hot dogs.). After an inordinate amount of time, I finally got to the speaker. A simple two chili dogs and drink order. After repeating it three times to the lady, I was just handed a drink with no food. When I corrected it with her, I figured no big deal. It literally took 5 minutes to make two chili dogs.

Well at least they will be great, right?? Wrong...simple boiled dogs, chili that was equal to Hormels out of a can all smashed in a sticky wrapper. Honestly 7-11 has far better dogs with better toppings for less. Even a Sonic dog is superior.

I'm sure this place is nostalgic for some folks, but as a neutral first time customer, I'll keep driving...
